Position Summary
The Intermediate Mechanical Designer is responsible for preparing detailed designs, drawings, calculations, and cost analyses to support engineering projects. This role involves working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution of projects while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to design standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed designs, drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOM) based on project specifications using SolidWorks CAD software.
- Review drawings for accuracy, materials, and manufacturing sequencing; implement revisions for final review.
- Apply engineering principles to system designs, ensuring projects meet schedule, cost, and quality requirements.
- Collaborate with electrical, procurement, applications, quality, and manufacturing teams to integrate systems and meet project goals.
- Provide technical support to internal and external stakeholders through field visits, customer meetings, and design reviews.
- Support production by interpreting engineering drawings and specifications for the shop floor.
- Design components based on sketches or verbal concepts.
- Estimate materials, costs, and create Bills of Materials as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 3–5 years of mechanical engineering and design experience in a fabrication or assembly environment.
- Experience with Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and engineering documentation.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and strong attention to detail in design, calculations, and documentation.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel within North America (occasional international travel possible).

- Primarily office-based, with exposure to shop floor or site environments as needed.
- Frequent sitting, standing, and walking; occasional bending, stooping, and lifting (up to 50 lbs).
- Frequent computer use, including design and documentation tasks.
