Position Summary

The Intermediate Mechanical Designer is responsible for preparing detailed designs, drawings, calculations, and cost analyses to support engineering projects. This role involves working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution of projects while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to design standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed designs, drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOM) based on project specifications using SolidWorks CAD software.
  • Review drawings for accuracy, materials, and manufacturing sequencing; implement revisions for final review.
  • Apply engineering principles to system designs, ensuring projects meet schedule, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with electrical, procurement, applications, quality, and manufacturing teams to integrate systems and meet project goals.
  • Provide technical support to internal and external stakeholders through field visits, customer meetings, and design reviews.
  • Support production by interpreting engineering drawings and specifications for the shop floor.
  • Design components based on sketches or verbal concepts.
  • Estimate materials, costs, and create Bills of Materials as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3–5 years of mechanical engineering and design experience in a fabrication or assembly environment.
  • Experience with Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and engineering documentation.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and strong attention to detail in design, calculations, and documentation.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel within North America (occasional international travel possible).
