**Job Title: Senior Technology Architect - Cyber Security & Network Security
Location: Toronto, ON, CAN (On-Site)

Pay Rate: C$90-C$100/hr
Role Overview**
The Senior Technology Architect will provide deep technical leadership in cybersecurity architecture, security operations (SecOps), automation, AI-driven security solutions, and next-generation network security. This role requires hands-on experience designing, configuring, implementing, and troubleshooting advanced cybersecurity solutions, particularly within large, distributed environments such as the K-12 education sector.
The architect will work closely with multiple stakeholders to design scalable, secure, and automated cybersecurity operating models, including hybrid in-house and outsourced MSSP environments, while supporting training, governance, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Cyber Security & Network Architecture
- Deliver architecture guidance, solution design, training, and implementation support for next-generation cyber security and network technologies, including:
Security Service Edge (SSE) / Secure Access Service Edge (SASE)
(SWG, CASB, ZTNA, FWaaS)
- SD-WAN and Software-Defined Networking (SDN)
- Endpoint security platforms (EPP, EDR, XDR)
- IPS/IDS, DDoS protection, and Network Access Control
- Identity and authentication solutions (passwordless, certificates, MFA)
- Incident Response and Incident Management (IR/IM)
- Automated vulnerability management and patching
- User and Entity Behaviour Analytics (UEBA
)
Security Operations & MSSP Integration
- Provide technical leadership for hybrid security operating models involving internal teams and Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs):
- MSSP onboarding, integration, and optimization
- SOC and NOC architecture and operations
- SIEM, SOAR, EDR/XDR, and threat intelligence platforms
- Security automation and orchestration workflows
- Governance, risk, and compliance in hybrid environments
Architecture, Metrics & Continuous Improvement
- Define and maintain reference architectures incorporating Zero-Trust principles and SOAR-enabled automation.
- Lead development of SOC performance metrics, including KPIs and KRIs, aligned with executive and board-level objectives.
- Apply threat-informed design using MITRE ATT&CK Kill Chain analysis.
- Assess emerging cyber security technologies through pilots and proof-of-concepts, including AI-driven capabilities.
Training, Collaboration & Advisory
- Deliver targeted training to IT and security teams on:
- Working effectively with MSPs/MSSPs
- Escalation models and shared responsibilities
- Interpreting security metrics and dashboards
- Provide strategic advisory support on:
- Vendor engagement and performance assessment
- Shared security service models
- Architectural governance across multiple organizations
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including blueprints, onboarding patterns, risk models, and implementation guides

Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting
- Present to senior and executive stakeholders as required.
- Provide regular status updates and project reports.
- Collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholder groups with varying needs
.
Mandatory Qualifications (Must-Have)
Cyber Security & Network Security Expertise (40%)
- 10+ years of experience in cyber security and next-generation network security.
- 5+ years deploying secure architecture and automation workflows.
- 5+ years of experience in network security within advanced SDN environments.
- Hands-on experience with:
- SSE/SASE, Zero-Trust Architecture
- Cloud security (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud)
- MITRE ATT&CK, D3FEND, ATLAS
- NIST CSF v2, CIS Controls v8
- AI/ML-driven cyber security automation
- EPP, EDR, XDR platforms
- IPS/IDS, DDoS, NAC
- Identity and authentication technologies
- Incident response and vulnerability management
- Penetration testing and automated red teaming
- OT security
Security Operations & Metrics (35%)
- Experience designing hybrid SOC/MSSP operating models.
- Expertise in SIEM, SOAR, EDR/XDR, and threat intelligence platforms.
- Experience developing KPIs/KRIs and observability dashboards.
- Proven ability to translate operational metrics into strategic insights.
- Strong knowledge of MSSP, MDR, and SOC-as-a-Service models.
Training & Stakeholder Engagement (10%)
- 5+ years presenting to senior and executive audiences.
- 5+ years coordinating complex technical initiatives across multiple teams.
- 5+ years preparing written deliverables (status reports, recommendations).
- 5+ years delivering cybersecurity training and upskilling programs.
Certifications & Education (10%)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or related field.
- Cyber security certifications preferred:
- CISSP, CISM, CCSP
- CEH, CISA, CRISC (or equivalents)
- Postgraduate degree preferred.
Public Sector Experience (5%)
- Knowledge of Ontario public-sector IT standards and relevant legislation.
- 5+ years' experience
in the K-12 education sector, preferably with school boards.
