Job Title: Lodging Lead
Reporting directly to the Manager – Travel and Lodging, Eskay Creek, the Lodging Lead is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Eskay Creek Lodges & Lodge. This role will support Lodge room bookings, Lodge cleanliness, service quality, materials and supplies orders, and overall management of the Lodges and related service contractors. The Lodging Lead will oversee all Skeena-related interests for Lodge services at Eskay Creek. The priority of this position is to deliver exceptional Lodge services to ensure the comfort and safety of all Lodge guests during their stay at site.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Lodge Oversight & Operations
Provide oversight on all Lodge services at Eskay Creek.
Ensure that Lodge is welcoming, clean, well-run, organized, safe, and comfortable for all guests.
Look for gaps in current Lodge operations and build plans to improve Lodge service.
Manage day-to-day Lodge requests and schedules, such as room assignments and maintenance requests.
Overall coordination of the various Lodge services to ensure both contractual and operating standard compliance is being met.
Complete regular safety and quality inspections to ensure Lodge cleanliness standards are maintained to very high levels. This includes all common areas, offices, lunch areas, bathrooms, and waste disposal areas.
Contractor & Stakeholder Relationships
Foster and maintain a positive relationship with Lodge services contractors.
Work directly with Lodge Services contractors to ensure supplies are ordered and kept stocked regularly and Lodge staff are prepared for incoming arrivals.
Continuous Improvement
Continuously improve Lodge services through change management and coaching of Skeena and contractor staff.
Evaluate and monitor complete Lodge services supply chain including sourcing, transport, storage, and general inventory management. Recommend and support improvements.
Budgeting & Administration
Manage Lodge budgets and cost effectiveness while maintaining service quality.
Review and approve Lodge services invoices, identify and resolve invoice discrepancies, and initiate contractual changes when required.
Preparation, distribution, and communication of all required Lodge-related reports.
Attend and record minutes for meetings related to Lodge operations.
Systems & Data Management
Utilize and maintain INX Lodge Management System for all site-related activities for room bookings, travel, scheduling, and policy compliance.
Support training of new staff or contractors on INX when required.
Travel Coordination
Liaise with the Travel Lead as required to ensure all travel arrangements run smoothly.
Support the Travel Lead with day-to-day activities for Lodge requests, room assignments, travel requests and changes, charter transportation, and resolve travel issues on crew change day.
Effectively communicate and resolve travel, Lodge, and charter transport issues in a timely manner when Travel Lead is not available.
Health, Safety & Incident Management
Communicate, report, and investigate all Lodge incidents in a timely and effective manner.
All other duties as reasonably assigned.
The Ideal Candidate
Education / Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in business, hospitality, logistics, or a related field preferred.
Experience / Skills
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in remote logistics, camp services, or travel coordination in mining, energy, or similar sectors.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with a collaborative approach.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, including the ability to respond calmly and effectively in high-pressure situations.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across all organizational levels and external partners.
- Understanding of site access protocols, health and safety regulations, and Indigenous engagement principles is an asset.
- Experience working in or supporting FIFO (fly-in fly-out) operations is an asset.
- Exhibits a high degree of responsibility for confidential matters
- Effective team player who can jump in wherever is needed
- Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as with others
Work Location & Conditions
This is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation.
The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace or Smithers airports, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena's Travel Policy.
There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.
All Applicants MUST be legally entitled to work in Canada. Priority hiring consideration will be given to Indigenous Nations members who reside within the territories our projects are located.
Compensation
The expected salary range for this position is CA$110,000- CA$140,000 , in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia. Salary ranges are guidelines and any job offer received by a candidate will be determined on a number of factors such as relevant education, training, and/or experience.
