A
Bühler Color Sorter Operator
is an individual who monitors and manages a Bühler optical sorting machine to automatically sort and grade products based on color, shape, and other defects. The role involves performing initial setup by selecting the correct product profile and sensitivity, overseeing the sorting process for optimal performance and yield, and making minor adjustments when necessary. Modern automated sorters perform many of these adjustments on their own, but an operator is still needed for oversight and to manage fluctuations.

Key responsibilities

Setup and monitoring:
Perform initial setup, which may involve selecting a product profile and adjusting sensitivity settings through a simple interface, and then monitor the machine to ensure it's running correctly.

Quality control:
Supervise the sorting process to ensure high-quality output by removing unwanted colors, foreign materials (like sticks and stones), and other defects.

Troubleshooting and adjustments:
Make minor adjustments to the machine's settings as needed to compensate for variations in product color, dust, or other environmental factors that may affect performance.

Yield and efficiency:
Ensure the sorter is operating at peak efficiency to maximize product yield and minimize waste.

Data management:
Use the machine's digital monitoring systems to track performance metrics and analyze data for continuous improvement.

Maintenance support:
Work with Bühler's Total Care service to schedule preventative maintenance and ensure the sorter is running at its best.

Modern vs. older systems

Automated sorters: Many modern Bühler sorters have intelligent automation, including auto-calibration and product tracking, which automatically adjust to maintain consistent performance with minimal operator intervention.

Manual sorters
: In contrast, manual systems require more constant adjustments from the operator to keep up with changing conditions.

Working Hours: 40 hrs per week

Min-Max Pay : $15- $50
