Custom Gaskets Ltd is a family owned manufacturing business in Vancouver British Columbia. The company was established in 1965. We are a mainstream supplier of Gaskets and Plastic Extrusion Profiles.

We are now recruiting for a Production Supervisor at our Vancouver, BC production facility. The Production Supervisor will report all aspects of the shift operations to senior management and ensure that production goals are met.

The incumbent will ensure workplace health and safety requirements are met and take responsibility for the security of the building, product and staff. This includes, but is not limited to, achieving operational goals, staffing, training, timeliness and quality of order output for customers, effective use of equipment, and housekeeping.

This position requires hands-on supervision in the plant, a team attitude and ability to work independently.

The days of work will either be Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervision

  • Manage and enforce health and safety initiatives.
  • Train and onboard employees into new positions.
  • Develop staff and set individual goals and objectives and ensure they are met.
  • Create an atmosphere of mutual co-operation and team work.
  • Provide leadership and motivation on the day-to-day duties.
  • Be a hands on Supervisor where required.
  • Review order intake every morning with the purchasing manager.
  • Create a work plan for all orders.
  • Issue work orders to relevant departments and employees.
  • Plan and organize materials for work orders.
  • Conduct material preparation where required.
  • People planning, vacations, time off.
  • Train and monitor all quality control requirements.

Operations

  • Responsible for meeting or exceeding production targets while maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Determine daily production schedule.
  • Control and reporting of raw material inventory.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, efficient, and safe plant operation.
  • Ensure that all orders for customers are accurate and delivered as promised.
  • Make recommendations to improve efficiencies, ensuring safety and production standards are met.
  • Other duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous supervisory and quality experience in a manufacturing environment considered a strong asset.
  • Process engineering and/or lean green belt skills a strong asset
  • Possess excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform and deliver accurately under tight deadlines.
  • Possess a solid understanding of team building with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Detailed accuracy with record keeping.
  • Forklift, rider certification, is beneficial, however training can be provided.
  • WHMIS certification, however WHMIS is provided annually.
  • Post-secondary education an asset.
  • Familiarity with lean principles an asset.

This role is a dayshift role, Monday – Friday.
