TITLE: Statistics Clerk

SALARY RANGE:      Job Class III - $64, $76, rates)

SUPERVISOR: Intelligence/Crime Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY:     

The Statistic Clerk's primary function is being responsible for compiling, processing, producing and submitting various statistical reports; compiling UCR Code for reportable incidents and maintains and replenishes supplies, in an accordance with the policies and procedures by the Chief of Police.

Proven organizational, strong time management and motivational skillsProven effective communication skillsDemonstrated interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively as part of a teamStrong knowledge of computer systems and applications required for position including CPIC NICHE, RMS, Strong knowledge and experience (1 year preferred) in Unform Crime ReportingAbility to relate courteously with members of the service, the public, and outside agencies. Ability to maintain accuracy with a large volume of work.Ability to work with moderate supervision and be able to produce accurate work while complying with procedures.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBLITIES

Reviewing and Auditing reportable and non-reportable incidents and compiling UCR code according to Stats Canada and assigning tasks to officers when more information/required information is not supplied.Reviewing on a daily basis, all reportable and non-reportable OPTIC incidents to ensure:Auditing clearing status and status date according to Stats Canada, OPTIC and Police Service guidelines.Reviewing and correcting duplicate incidentsSubmitting Statistical information to Canadian Center for Justice Statistics and Ministry of Public Safety and Security Analysis Unit.Compiling monthly reports as required for Chief, Senior Management, Police Services Board and Crime Analyst.Compiling year-end reports, clearance rates, annual report and business plan.Reviewing and adjusting edit reports received from Stats Canada on a monthly basis.Researching and maintaining an understanding of the objectives, rules, definitions and terminology for Uniform Crime Reporting as set out by the Canadian Centre of Justice Statistics.Accessing CPIC and RMS Niche systems for general queries.Performing general office duties such as typing, filing, telephone and public enquiries.Maintaining and replenishing supplies, including ordering of Ministry forms for officer use.Ensuring the photocopier and fax machine are in good working order and contacting maintenance services as required.Performing any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
