About Us_
// At Masabi, we're driving the fare payment revolution, powering the journeys of millions all over the world. We build fare collection platforms that allow riders to seamlessly buy and present tickets for public transport either on their mobile phones, from a ticket machine, or even by tapping their bank card to travel.
Our Justride platform is used in over 250 locations globally, including some of the largest cities in the world. With our industry-first mobile ticketing SDK, we've partnered with large players in the transport space, including Uber, Moovit and Transit.
Your own journey is important to us too. Choosing a role here means joining a network of innovators from all walks of life; a group of passionate individuals who consistently deliver. Here, you'll find the tools you need to build the career you want. Whether you're taking the direct route or trying a new path, we'll support you no matter what.
The Role_
// We're looking for a Lead Platform Engineer to join our infrastructure and platform engineering group — someone who's deeply technical, hands-on, and ready to lead how we design, build, and scale our core platform capabilities.
You'll take ownership of foundational systems and practices across infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, and reliability. This is a role for someone who wants to build, set direction, and coach others — while staying close to the systems they care about. You'll act as a technical leader and trusted partner, collaborating across engineering to raise the bar on how we ship, scale, and operate our platform.
Location_
This role is available remotely for candidates based in Canada (East coast time zone).
What You'll Be Doing_
Build and scale our platform foundations
Lead platform architecture and design conversations across infrastructure, deployment, and scalability
Develop and evolve infrastructure as code, configuration management, and shared tooling (Terraform, CloudFormation, Puppet)
Own the design and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines, ensuring secure, scalable, fast delivery
Introduce and maintain automation-first practices across infrastructure and developer workflows
Help shape how we scale globally — including bootstrapping new environments and supporting multi-region growth
Drive observability and reliability maturity
Define and embed platform-wide SLIs, SLOs, and alerting strategies aligned with product and engineering needs
Implement and extend observability tooling (Grafana, Prometheus, CloudWatch, Kibana, etc.)
Lead capacity planning and platform performance improvements
Influence architectural decisions across teams to support availability, scale, and cost-efficiency
Influence and lead across teams
Act as the technical lead within the platform group, partnering closely with the SRE Manager and Engineering Managers
Contribute to cross-team reliability initiatives, guiding others on best practices around platform maturity
Provide technical mentorship to engineers working on infrastructure, delivery, or reliability
Help shape the long-term platform engineering roadmap in collaboration with engineering leadership
Support production readiness
Lead/contribute to incident response, blameless postmortems, and reliability reviews
Design and test disaster recovery and failover strategies for key systems
Participate in a shared, sustainable on-call rotation — fully compensated in addition to base salary
About You_
// You're a hands-on technical leader who combines deep infrastructure expertise with a thoughtful, collaborative mindset. You love building systems that scale — and helping others do the same.
Significant experience in platform, SRE, or infrastructure engineering roles, ideally in scaling environments
Proven ability to design and evolve cloud-native platforms on AWS, including networking, IAM, and security best practices
Strong proficiency in Terraform, CloudFormation, or other infrastructure automation tools
Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines, developer enablement, and delivery tooling
Skilled at designing and implementing observability solutions for high-scale production systems
Experienced in driving technical initiatives across teams, influencing through credibility and clarity
A clear communicator, who works well in remote and async environments
Passionate about mentoring, knowledge-sharing, and collaborative problem solving
Pragmatic, delivery-focused, and comfortable navigating complex trade-offs
Nice to Have_
Familiarity with PCI DSS v4, SOC 2, or similar compliance frameworks
Experience with container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes, ECS)
AWS certifications
Our Tech Stack_
// Our platform is JVM-based, cloud-native, and hosted on AWS. The platform engineering team works across both modern infrastructure and legacy systems as we scale globally.
We use a range of proven tools to support performance, reliability, and speed of delivery:
Monitoring & Observability: Grafana, Prometheus, CloudWatch, Pingdom, Kibana
Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, CloudFormation
CI/CD & Automation: GitLab CI, Rundeck
Configuration & Logging: Puppet, Confluent Cloud
Some of Our Benefits_
20 days of vacation per year (in addition to public holidays), plus the option to buy an additional 5 days of vacation each year. On top of this, our office is shut every year between Christmas and New Year, totalling a whopping 28+ days of vacation
Private Healthcare and Life Insurance via Trinet
Menopause support
Choice of a workstation
Training allowance of up to CAD$1000 per year
CAD$325 per year to spend on your home office
Ability to work for up to 3 months per year from any country in the world
Enhanced family leave
Fun and collaborative environment with a focus on making a difference in the world
