In the appointment of Teaching Assistant, your general duties and responsibilities will be:
- Preparation of laboratory materials for students including weed, plant disease and insect demonstration material, preparing and delivering pre-laboratory lectures, setting up experiments, and preparing these for the Canvas learning platform
- Consultation with students using video meetings, email, and/or holding office hours
- Providing feedback to students and marking laboratory assignments and exams
- Invigilating exams
Your general location of work will be Teaching Lab AGRC 4C77 and you will report to the laboratory coordinator Amanda Muller
Required Number of Hours: 63 hours during the academic term

Qualifications (Skills and Abilities)
Minimum of a B.Sc. degree or equivalent in Biological Sciences and registration in a graduate program is required.
We are seeking three teaching assistants. For at least one position, preference will be given to students with a graduate program focused on plant pathology and/or students with a strong background in pathology. We are actively seeking out someone with this expertise to round out our teaching assistant team. Though of course, we welcome applications from students currently enrolled in a program focused on weeds, insects and/or plant pathogens and/or students that have a strong background in any of these topics.
Experience in teaching and/or public speaking, plant, insect and/or pathogen identification and field sampling are considered valuable skills.
