En tant que technicien en structures de bois, vous aurez pour mission de participer activement à la conception de structures telles que les fermes de toit et les poutrelles ajourées. Vous serez chargé de préparer les dessins techniques nécessaires à la fabrication en usine, tout en optimisant chaque composant structurel afin de répondre aux exigences de charge et aux spécifications propres à chaque projet.

Remote Position Available

As a Wood Structure Technician, you will play an active role in the design of structures such as roof trusses and open-web joists. You will be responsible for preparing the technical drawings required for manufacturing, while optimizing each structural component to meet load requirements and project-specific specifications.

Responsabilités:

  • Analyser les plans, devis et documents techniques fournis par les clients;
  • Communiquer avec le spécialiste projet et/ou les clients afin de finaliser les plans, au besoin;
  • Identifier et communiquer toute problématique technique au spécialiste projet ou au coordonnateur technique;
  • Concevoir et dessiner la structure de plancher et/ou de toiture conformément aux plans et données techniques analysées;
  • Élaborer les plans de montage selon les plans d'architecture et/ou d'ingénierie;
  • Assurer une optimisation des éléments structuraux;
  • Effectuer les calculs structuraux des poutres et colonnes de bois d'ingénierie pour garantir la fiabilité des conceptions;
  • Réviser et valider les plans de montage ainsi que les dessins d'atelier avant leur transmission à la production;
  • Préparer les dessins techniques pour la fabrication en usine;
  • Garantir le respect des normes et codes du bâtiment en vigueur selon la province de construction;

  • Apporter un soutien aux menuisiers en cas de problématiques sur les chantiers.

  • Analyzing plans, specifications, and technical documents provided by clients;

  • Communicating with the project specialist and/or clients to finalize plans, as needed;
  • Identifying and reporting any technical issues to the project specialist or technical coordinator;
  • Designing and drafting floor and/or roof structures in accordance with analyzed plans and technical data;
  • Developing assembly drawings based on architectural and/or engineering plans;
  • Ensuring optimization of structural elements;
  • Performing structural calculations for engineered wood beams and columns to guarantee design reliability;
  • Reviewing and validating assembly drawings and shop drawings before sending them to production;
  • Preparing technical drawings for factory manufacturing;
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable building codes and standards in the province of construction;
  • Providing support to carpenters on-site in case of technical issues.

Exigences:

Compétences, aptitudes et connaissances requises :

  • Diplôme en technique du bâtiment ou domaine connexe, avec un minimum de 3 années d'expérience pertinente;
  • Capacité de lecture et d'interprétation de plans et devis;
  • Compétences en conception de poutrelles de plancher et de fermes de toit;
  • Maitrise approfondie de la construction à ossature de bois;
  • Aptitudes avancées pour la visualisation 3D;
  • Maitrise du logiciel Sapphire de Mitek;
  • Excellente connaissance des normes et codes du bâtiment applicables au Québec;
  • Habiletés en communication pour collaborer avec les clients et les membres de l'équipe;
  • Sens de l'organisation développé;
  • Connaissance du code du bâtiment de l'Ontario en vigueur (atout).

Required Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge:

  • Diploma in building technology or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience;
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications;
  • Skills in designing floor joists and roof trusses;
  • In-depth knowledge of wood frame construction;
  • Advanced 3D visualization skills;
  • Proficiency in Mitek's Sapphire software;
  • Excellent knowledge of building codes and standards applicable in Quebec;
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with clients and team members;
  • Well-developed organizational skills;
  • Knowledge of current Ontario building codes (an asset).
