Job Description

Kiknu, meaning "our home" in Mi'kmaq, will be Nova Scotia's first long term care home on a First Nation community. A residents-first approach to care and service will ensure Kiknu is supporting independence, promoting dignity and placing value on the choices for how elders want to live their lives.

Shannex will act as the operating partner alongside the First Nations community of Eskasoni in the operation of this new home. Together, we will ensure the community delivers exceptional service and care while honouring Mi'kmaw culture, values and traditions.

We are searching for a Environmental Services Attendant to join our Kiknu Long Term Care team based in Eskasoni, Nova Scotia.

About the Opportunity

Dusts, cleans and polishes furniture, counters, shelving, walls, and window/door ledges.Cleans sinks, toilets and bath facilities.Fills and replenishes supplies in resident rooms, nursing units, and rest rooms.Empties and cleans trash receptacles and places trash in compactor and/or trash pickup area.Sorts laundry into appropriate piles based on the type of is dried or damp-dried appropriately and unloads the machine.Sorts clean laundry into appropriate baskets or racks; counts linen needed for each area as per linen quota and puts on cart; notes name tags on resident clothing and puts on correct rack.Picks up soiled laundry and delivers clean laundry to resident areas within the facility using laundry carts.Checks laundry for tears, holes, missing buttons, etc. and forwards clothing needing repair to the seamstress.Additional duties as required.

About You

In addition to placing high value on continuous improvement, collaboration and accountability, you bring:

High School/ GED completionMinimum of one (1) year experience in commercial housekeeping and/or laundry preferredAbility to learn and work in fast paced environmentAbility to work a schedule of flexible hours/ shifts inclusive of days, weekends and holidays
