Structural/Architectural Drafter

Working within a fast paced, multidiscipline engineering environment will expose the successful candidate to the design elements of all four disciplines - Structural, Mechanical, Process, Electrical and Civil Engineering.

Reporting to the Structural Principal, you are highly organized and detail oriented. Supporting designers and engineers, you will have experience with design for institutional, industrial, commercial and healthcare facilities. The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of the Ontario Building Code.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with the development and preparation of contract documents
• Co-ordinate project requirements with all team members, in all disciplines, as required
• Learn codes and design standards
• Learn structural design concepts
• Follow all REVIT/CAD Standards, QA and QC procedures during drawing planning and production
• Work independently and as part of a team
• Meet project timelines;
• Assist with Construction Administration co-ordination, review and issuance of Change Orders, Clarifications and RFI responses as required
• Assist with site takeoffs to catalogue existing conditions
• Other related duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

• Proficiency with REVIT and AutoCAD is required
• Experience in the preparation, drafting, and design of engineering drawings using appropriate standards
• Demonstrated understanding of construction protocols and processes and a proven ability to interpret drawings and specifications
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
• Desire for ongoing professional development
• Valid driver's licence. Occasional travel may be required

QUALIFICATIONS

• Diploma in Architectural Technology or equivalent program
