Direct Support Professionals provide individuals with high levels of support and supervision in all areas of daily living including; education, behaviour supports, community involvement and recreation.The position requires that the candidate be available to work various shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays.On-site/Off-site training is provided. Staff are responsible for assisting the residents in the participation of Life Skills Training, Personal and Self-Help Training, Arts & Crafts, Recreation and Leisure, as well as Educational Programs in various subject areas, all with the goal of promoting self-efficacy, autonomy and self-esteem for the residents.  Community integration is also a focus of the program.  Direct Support Professionals are responsible for creating and implementing therapeutic, purposeful programming with an emphasis on life skills and personal development, as well as client advocacy, both within and outside the agency. Direct Support Professionals need to be familiar with and adhere to the organization's core values and mission statement, and must participate in the agency's training and workshops. The Overnight (awake) Direct Support Professional provides hygiene support and daily living support for all residents. The position entails cleaning, food preparation, room safety checks, and some clerical duties (ie, filing).Disclaimer:This job posting is not inclusive of all duties and tasks that may be asked of the employee.
