|About the role
Reporting to the Manager, Security Operations, the Junior Cyber Analyst is responsible for supporting the overall cyber security program and conducting ongoing analysis in partnership with internal business leaders. They work as a tier 1 analyst in the security operations team supporting the Detect and Respond security functions, analyze security-related system logs and reports to identify information security events requiring further investigation, and acts as the first line of support in areas of security operations including the identification, detection and response to cyber security incidents.
|What You’ll Do
- Review and respond to security alerts and events to determine root cause;
- Perform rudimentary threat hunting as guided by threat intelligence and tier 2 analysts;
- Perform content analysis on intercepted malware, network packet captures, and endpoint collection (e.g. memory dumps, files systems, configurations).
- Assist in the refinement and development of detection use cases;
- Review of security assessments, security designs, and network architecture to develop an understanding of Payments Canada networks;
- Review of threat intelligence, announced vulnerabilities/exploits and new detection techniques;
- Provide security advice to IT and business areas, and assist in the writing and review of organizational; security policies to support internal control (access management, contingency planning and testing, security awareness, intrusion detection, patch management, anti-virus, etc.);
- Provide assistance to cyber analysts and senior cyber analysts in the conduct of security testing and security assessments.
|Minimum Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, or equivalent work experience;
- Ability to work outside of regular working hours based on operational requirements;
- Ability to participate in on-call rotation;
- Ability to work shift work as required;
- Government of Canada Level II Secret Clearance or eligibility to obtain.
|Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in IT support, system administration, and/or security operations is considered an asset;
- Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset;
- Industry certification (CISSP, CISA, PSP, ISO 27001) is considered an asset.
|Salary Range
**Based on qualifications and experience**: $63,751 and $79689
