Community Engagement Manager

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Community Engagement Manager oversees and implements outreach programs and presentations to strengthen BCSS engagement throughout the province and build relationships with external stakeholders in communities throughout BC. The Community Engagement Manager is the lead collaborator of one of BCSS’s core programs, Partnership Education Presentations (PEP) and also organizes educational presentations and works with the regional staff. This position reports to the Director, Operations and Programs and works closely with the Communications and Marketing Manager.
This is a hybrid full-time position with the expectation of work in the Vancouver provincial office when required for staff meetings and presentation preparation. Attendance at BCSS annual events is also required (2-3 per year).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Partnership Education Presentations Program
- 60%
- Manages the PEP program ensuring processes are in place and annual program goals are met
- Collaborates with BCSS Regional Managers and communications team to create a strategic plan
to engage communities and organizations for the presentations and increase the number of presentations delivered across BC.
- Works with the Director, Operations and Programs, and Director of Finance to create, manage and maintain program budgets
- Supports the Regional Managers/Educator with PEP requests they receive, identifying and vetting potential speakers and volunteers and community engagement, grassroots marketing (e.g. brochure distribution)
- Continues to standardize the delivery of Partnership Education Presentations through drafting educational and promotional content with the support of the communications team
- Promotes PEP presentations and builds relationships with bigger organizations/stakeholders (i.e. community groups, clinicians, universities, colleges, educational institutions, professional organizations, etc.)
- Identifies potential partnership opportunities and follows up on leads in a timely manner
- Supports the Regional Managers/Educators in identifying and vetting potential speakers and volunteers
- Maintains and updates the database of volunteers and organization presentations to create one centralized master list for staff to utilize/access
- Leads presenter/volunteer onboarding and training (i.e. public speaking and presentation skills) for in-person and virtual PEP presentations
- Continues to develop a presentation library for the regional team to utilize on Teams
- Attends PEP team meetings and provides updates to the team
- Any other duties as requested by the Director, Operations and Programs or the CEO
Community Outreach - 10%
- Brings forward opportunities to the team where BCSS can participate in community events, conferences etc.
- Manage all requests for participation at third party educational events (ie: booths at conferences)
- Represents BCSS at community events, conferences etc.
- Prepares materials to display at community events, conferences etc.
- Works to standardize the delivery of general BCSS presentations, awareness presentations, and education presentations across BC
- Provides support to Regional Managers/Educators with community presentations
Other Engagement - 30%
- Supports the Director, Operations and Programs with BC Partners by attending meetings and completing tasks outlines in the contract
- Oversees the BCSS Membership program including policies/processes, member benefits, online platform, annual renewal process and responds to member inquiries. Manages membership attraction, retention and awareness strategies in collaboration with the BCSS Communications teams
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Post-secondary in communications, business admin, project management or equivalent experience.
- 2-5 years of experience in the relevant field
- Strong background in program development and promotions
- Experience in facilitating presentations in-person and virtually
- Technical skills for virtual presentations and remote work

- Proven ability to work independently
- The ability to take initiative and work on several projects concurrently
- Demonstrated financial literacy with budget management skills
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
- $58,500 to 73,125 per year
- 4 weeks paid vacation to start
- A comprehensive benefits package, including extended health care and Municipal Pension Plan (MPP) for employees working 20 or more hours per week
