The YMCA of Central East Ontario operates out of three major Health, Fitness and Recreation facilities as well as approximately 20 community locations. Our team consists of more than 350 staff members and over 150 volunteers. **Position Summary**:
To lead individuals to move, sweat and feel empowered through dynamic group classes. We're currently seeking a high-energy, passionate Dance Fitness or Zumba Instructor to lead fun, motivating classes that keep our clients coming back for more.
**Responsibilities**:
- Lead high-energy dance fitness or Zumba classes for individuals of all fitness levels.
- Create safe, effective, and enjoyable choreography set to upbeat music.
- Motivate and engage participants to ensure a positive experience.
- Provide modifications and support for clients with different abilities.
- Maintain a clean and welcoming studio environment.
- Arrive on time and prepared for each class.
- Provide quality, consistent member service.
- Prescribe individual exercise programs for members tailored to meet their needs and goals.
- Provide high quality programs that reflects the YMCA standard of excellence.
- Build rapport with members to provide a comfortable atmosphere and working relationship.
- Exhibits a professional and positive attitude.
- Shows awareness of and consideration for the opinions and feelings of others.
- Speaks clearly in delivery of programs and sessions.
- Wears appropriate uniform at all times.
- Receives feedback positively and modifies behavior accordingly.
- Responds appropriately, maintaining composure at all times.
- Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with co-workers and supervisors.
- Maintains current CPR and Standard First Aid Certifications.
- Attends all staff meetings as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
**What you will bring to the position**:
- Certification in recognized dance fitness programs.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- A passion for movement, music, and helping others reach their goals.
**Experience**:
- Prior group fitness or dance instruction experience is preferred.
**Working Conditions**:
- Requirement of Standard First and CPR Level C.
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check.
