**Position Overview**
The Genome Analyst interprets genetic variants, submits data to relevant internal and external databases, participates in education and teaching activities as well as other activities as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct literature reviews, database searches and bioinformatics analyses;
- Summarize current state of knowledge for specific variants and generate draft reports in accordance with guidelines
- Submit data on identified sequence/copy number variants to relevant databases;
- Submit clinical data pertinent to sequence and NAAT interpretation to relevant databases;
- Participates in proficiency testing and other on-going training and learning initiatives;
- Participates in accreditation assessments;
- Provides input on new procedures, practices or equipment;
- Provides training to newly hired laboratory staff;
- Presents at Education Rounds;
- Maintains current knowledge of and practices in accordance with all relevant policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines, Accreditation requirements, and relevant scientific literature.
**Basic Requirements**
- Master's degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics or related discipline;
- Minimum of six months of relevant experience;
- Knowledge of and experience of sequenced based identification;
- Knowledge of the theory and practice of current NAAT-based laboratory procedures, instruments and equipment, and current NGS laboratory procedures, instruments, equipment and special techniques;
- Excellent problem recognition and problem solving skills;
- Effective organizational, time management and prioritization skills;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Scientific curiosity and interest to stay on top of emerging scientific data and trends as it pertains to the role;
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, multitask and think critically;
- Ability to work independently and with cross-functional team members.
As a pre-condition of employment, all new EORLA employees will be required to obtain and provide a satisfactory Criminal Records Check dated within six (6) months from the date of issue.

**Rotation/Shifts**
Days, with the possibility of evenings, 8 hour shifts. For information purposes only - EORLA reserves the right to change.
**Preferred Qualifications**
- Bilingualism is considered an asset;
- Molecular microbiology and/or virology experience is considered an asset.
