**Position: Cleaner**

**Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week**

**Accountability**

The Cleaner is accountable to the Property Manager at each assigned building.

**Function**:
The Cleaner is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation throughout the interior and exterior of the building.

**Duties**:
The Cleaner's duties encompass several key areas:
**Cleaning Responsibilities**:

- Clean, mop, and buff floors.
- Clean common area glass windows and doors.
- Sweep and mop stairwells.
- Clean elevators thoroughly.
- Maintain cleanliness of all common area bathrooms, including plumbing fixtures.
- Clean administrative offices (excluding common area kitchens).
- Handle garbage disposal and bring bins back after pickup.
- Maintain and clean the laundry area.
- Perform minor grounds maintenance, including sweeping and shoveling as needed.
- Fulfill other cleaning duties as assigned.

**Inventory Management**:

- Keep track of cleaning supplies inventory and notify staff when supplies need replenishing.
- Follow MSDS/WHMIS instructions and procedures for safe handling of cleaning materials.

**Building Maintenance**:

- Contact maintenance personnel for emergency repairs.
- Report potential maintenance issues to maintenance staff promptly.

**Specific Duties Include**:

- **Entrance and Lobby**:

- Sweep and wash floors.
- Clean entrance doors and glass partitions.
- Empty waste containers.
- Vacuum carpets.
- **Elevators**:

- Wash exterior doors and frames.
- Clean interior metal surfaces including control panels.
- Sweep and wash elevator floors.
- **Laundry Room**:

- Sweep and wash floors.
- Wipe down machines.
- Empty waste containers.
- **Public Washrooms**:

- Sweep and wash floors with germicidal solution.
- Clean and disinfect all surfaces including toilets, wash basins, taps, and mirrors.
- Empty waste containers and replenish supplies.
- **Janitorial Rooms**:

- Clean and store equipment.
- Ensure compliance with WHMIS requirements.
- **Corridors, Elevator Lobbies, Stairs, Landings**:

- Sweep, mop, and vacuum as needed.
- **Exterior Areas**:

- Pick up litter.
- **Offices**:

- Sweep, mop, dust, and empty waste containers.

**Requirements**:

- Previous experience in residential building cleaning is preferred.
- Experience working with marginalized communities is a plus.
- Reliable transportation to commute to work location.
- Ability to handle difficult situations calmly.

**Physical Demands**:

- Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting (up to 25 kg), pushing/pulling equipment (e.g., mop buckets, garbage bins).
- Repetitive motions (mopping, sweeping, wiping surfaces).
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals (must follow WHMIS/MSDS protocols).

**Work Environment**:

- Indoor and outdoor work (e.g., lobby, stairwells, grounds maintenance in all weather).
- Potential exposure to biohazards (e.g., bathrooms, garbage disposal).

**Schedule & Flexibility**:

- 37.5 hours/week; may include early mornings, evenings, or weekends based on building needs.
- Occasional overtime for emergency cleaning/maintenance.

**Tools/Equipment Provided**:

- Cleaning supplies (mops, vacuums, disinfectants), PPE
