**Position Overview**:
The WRHA Mental Health & Addictions Recovery Service provides a range of mental health and addictions services. These services are committed to providing a responsive and inclusive system aimed to restore, promote and maintain well-being for the residents of the Winnipeg Health Region. Reporting to the Mental Health and Addictions Recovery Service Leadership Team, Residential Care Workers provide client and facility support. This includes supporting community day treatment and in-house residential treatment and orientation to those programs. These positions require a commitment to a client-centred philosophy and approach to the development and support of Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) programs and client services.
The Residential Care Worker will demonstrate the following:

**Experience**:
- Suitable combination of education and experience working in a residential facility mental health and addictions related employment, experience and/or volunteer work.
- Experience working from a client centered perspective.
**Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)**:
- Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
**Certification/Licensure/Registration**:
- Valid CPR-C with Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training and First Aid certification are required prior to beginning work.
**Qualifications and Skills**:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work well within an inter-disciplinary team.
- The ability to work within and contribute to a positive team environment.
- An understanding of, and sensitivity to, working with culturally diverse populations is essential.
- Demonstrated knowledge of addictions, mental health and co-occurring disorders.
- Ability to support individuals in building recovery capital
- Fluency in English (the ability to communicate in aboriginal languages, including Ojibwe and Cree, as well as French is considered an asset).
- Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge of Indigenous customs, traditions and values.
**Physical Requirements**:
- Availability for shift work.

The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Golden West Centennial Lodge, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services.
