**JOB DESCRIPTION**

Title:Shuttle Bus Driver

Hours of Work: Variable

Probationary period: 3 months
Society Profile: Seniors Services Society of BC is a non-profit agency located in New Westminster, B.C. which provides support services for seniors in New Westminster to live independently, as well as outreach services for seniors in a housing crisis across Metro Vancouver.
**Purpose**:

- Within the vision and mission statements of the Society, **reporting to the Support Service Team Lead**, the Bus Driver will be responsible for providing safe and reliable transportation for seniors in the community. Activities include shuttle route operations, group dining at restaurants, shopping trips to malls and grocery stores and attending seasonal special events. Most of the activities are during regular business hours.

**Qualifications**:

- Must have Class IV driving license
- Must have Valid First Aid Certificate
- Experience driving a 16 passenger bus
- Excellent driving record
- Excellent communication skills
- Physically able to lift up to 20lbs
- Punctual and reliable
- Must enjoy seniors
- Preference will be given to drivers who have experience with Paratransit
- Drivers abstract (will be required)
- Must be able to complete Criminal record Check with the vulnerable sector

**Other knowledge, skills, and abilities**:

- Being able to provide assistance to seniors with mobility devices on and off the bus
- Comfortable dealing with clients’ complaints
- Familiarity with New Westminster area is an asset
- Being able to plan routes by looking at addresses (Can use GPS)
- Ability to maintain cleanliness of the bus and ensure that the fuel is topped up when it’s low
- Work under minimum supervision.
- Team player, able to build positive relationships with co-workers, volunteers, clients, and community stakeholders.

**Compensation**:

- Hourly wage is $25/hour + 4% vacation pay
