It connects the region with the global community and supports international knowledge-sharing and partnerships, as well as gathering and measuring data on our impact in advancing the SDGs. This position supports key strategic priorities and activities in units pertaining to the UN SDGs and related university activities. The position reports the Director of CIFAL Victoria. This is a unique position, requiring specialized knowledge and expertise pertaining to university activities and the SDGs that spans across multiple aspects of UVic’s core mission, including research, education, operations and community outreach and engagement across campus and in relationship with international agencies. The Associate Director plays a crucial role in overseeing the day-to-day operations, establishing new systems, processes, and a governance structure for CIFAL Victoria, as it becomes a new unit of the university. This position demonstrates leadership in the following activities: - Providing trusted and informed advice to the CIFAL Director. - Liaising with UN agencies and external institutions on behalf of UVic. - Identifying and engaging with stakeholder groups. - Stewarding the establishment of strategic relationships, systems, and procedures. - Identifying funding opportunities. - Managing internal and external reports and evaluations. - Engaging with UVic staff, faculty, students, and the external community to develop, implement, and facilitate training opportunities and workshops. - Providing guidance and cultivating efficient means for internal and external communications. - Recruiting, training, and supervising students and staff who support the unit’s communications, administration, data collection, and systematization. - Job RequirementsThis position requires a Master’s degree in International Development, Political Science, or a related field, along with at least 5 years of related professional experience in post-secondary or research institutions.
