**MANAGER, STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS**

Full-time, Permanent, Hybrid

The Responsible Gambling Council (RGC) is a leading international authority on responsible gambling (RG)—providing insights to industry stakeholders through its research, advisory services, and accreditation program across the globe. Importantly, RGC also works to reduce the risks of gambling by creating and delivering innovative awareness and information programs for communities and priority populations including youth, young adults, and ethnocultural programming as well as the general population. Based in Toronto, RGC operates independently from the gaming industry, allowing it to offer unbiased insights and services related to responsible gambling.

The Strategic Communications Manager reports to the VP, Marketing and Communications and will be responsible for external communications and stakeholder relations for the organization. The Manager will work closely with the Executive Management Team and key stakeholders to develop and execute the external communications strategy that includes thought leadership, public relations and conference/event sponsorship.

The role is suited for a leader who has a passion for collaboration, writing and an ability to communicate complex information in a digestible manner. Creative and curious by nature, the Manager is a strategic thinker with a willingness to innovate.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**External Communications**
- Working with internal stakeholders, identify and develop original content (B2B and B2C) that demonstrates our expertise and thought leadership on a range of topics related to responsible gambling, mental health, problem gambling etc. Content channels include articles, news and press releases, blogs and social media.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and creative agency to lead the development of the Annual Report.
- Develop internal process to support ongoing thought leadership and content development.
- Ensure all materials present a clear, unified and positive image for the organization.
- Develop and execute the B2B social strategy (Linkedin and Twitter).

**Public Relations and Government Relations**
- Manage all media inquiries and interview requests, work with leadership team to prepare key messages and manage all logistics related to interview.
- Work with internal teams to identify PR opportunities that support programming and manage all aspects of project.
- Lead development and distribution of press releases.
- Support leadership team with government relations communications, proposals and/or funding requests.

**Conferences/Sponsorship**
- Establish and maintain relationships with external stakeholders in the gambling conference event space.
- Responsible for leading execution of sponsorships and trade show booths at industry conferences and events (developing collateral, staffing the booth etc).
- Act as key member of RGC Discovery Conference team to develop communications, and PR activities that promote conference and support overall execution of conference.
- Maintain a keen understanding of industry trends and research and make appropriate recommendations regarding communication strategy surrounding them.

**Reporting/Measurement**
- Manage all KPI monitoring and reporting for external communications strategy and PR; identify areas of opportunity for future strategies.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- 3+ years in communications, PR or related field.
- Experience in gambling, healthcare, mental health, addictions or related fields.
- Excellent written communications skills.
- Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
- Highly proficient in the use of various social/digital media channels (including LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook) and website content management systems.
- Experienced in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Analytics, and MailChimp.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities, multi-tasking and prioritizing, problem solving skills and communication skills.
- Ability to work at both the strategic level (problem solving, generating new ideas) and at the tactical level (executing initiatives).
- Strong self-directed initiative, resourcefulness, and drive for innovation.
- Ability to work under pressure, to grasp developing situations quickly and to meet deadlines.
- Ability to travel internationally.
- High knowledge on inclusivity, diversity and equality in the workplace and ways to implement all three in a professional environment.

Annual salary range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000, commensurate with skills and experience, plus excellent benefits and flexible work environment.
