**Summary**:
In addition to completing the general duties of an Outdoor Live Goods Associate, the **Outdoor Live Goods Team Lead** assists in the management of the outdoor live goods area in the retail store. This area of the store includes all trees, shrubs, perennials, outdoor soils, carts, carry-outs and the water garden products, and landscape design. The individual in this position will support the Supervisor by leading the Outdoor Live Goods associates, conduct training for the area, advise of material that needs to be ordered and ensure that their area is fully staffed and in good working condition. As a Team Lead the main goal will be to increase the productivity and growth in the company in general, and in particular, the outdoor live goods area.

**Job Duties**:

- Supervise the outdoor live goods staff in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Complete all outdoor live goods labourer duties as described in the respective job description.
- On call to fill in for absent live goods staff employees or days where short staffed in the live goods area (this may require working on scheduled days off or working longer shifts).
- Ensure product unload is completed according to company procedure.
- Sell according to the company pricing structure.
- Develop and administer daily break/lunch schedule for the live goods staff.
- Assist with scheduling and conducting outdoor live goods staff meetings as required (minimum monthly basis).
- Assist in training staff as required.
- Liaise with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
- Participate in pre-shift meetings for staff, especially for weekly sales changeovers.
- Advise the Outdoor Live Goods Supervisor of products to order that reflects both the customers’ and our retail environment’s needs.
- Confer with the Grower and identify plants as well as problems such as diseases and insect pests.
- Manage live goods inventory so that sufficient product is available and limited product is discarded.
- Review future sale items and ensure sufficient product is ordered.
- Plan and implement outdoor live goods displays for optimal retail sales.
- Review which outdoor live goods products are top sellers or are not selling and adjusting inventory accordingly.
- Maintain the displays in the live goods area.
- Provide daily duties for outdoor live goods employees to complete.
- Conduct an initial training session for new employees: this will include a basic overview of the policies and procedures for the area, a description of their role and on-going support for the first few weeks.
- Provide recommendations to Human Resources and/or the Store Manager for any additional training needs.
- Ensure the outdoor live goods staff work in a safe manner as per the Health and Safety policy.
- Provide the outdoor live goods employees with all necessary equipment to complete their job.
- Assist the Supervisor with conducting reviews with outdoor live goods staff as required (for fulltime employees: a minimum of one at 3 months, 6 months, and a year. For seasonal employees: one at 3 weeks and at the end of the season).
- Ensure product in the outdoor live goods area meets the highest quality standard.
- Record which products are written off and review the reason to limit reoccurrences.
- Maintain a clean and positive environment ensuring good plant presentation for watering and maintenance.
- Ensure all shifts in the outdoor live goods area are fully covered to provide the highest level of customer service.
- Be a strong role model for the outdoor live goods area specifically and the retail store in general.
- Provide upper management a monthly (winter months), biweekly (spring/summer), and end of shift report of any issues and/or concerns that need to be addressed.
- Ensure that all activities are being conducted with customer service as the primary concern.
- Remain informed of current product trends and recommend which trends to implement, this includes new plants, new maintenance guides and any other design trends.
- Conduct seminars to advise customers of product trends, maintenance and any other technique which may increase the sales in the retail environment.
- Perform other tasks as may be assigned.

**Requirements**:

- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- (3) years of experience in the Greenhouse industry preferred.
- Ability to operate various types of equipment.
- Able to mediate and resolve any employee and/or customer concerns
