Clean Room Pharmacy Assistant

**ABOUT THE ROLE**

Under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist, the Clean Room Technician works in a Clean Room environment to prepare medication compounding, assist with patient scheduling, program infusion pumps, and assist with infusion supplies requirements. While maintaining sterile standard, the Clean Room Technician, will ensure compounding is performed based on standard SOP including environmental monitoring. The Clean Room Technician may help prepare medications, complete sterile compounding of medication, and maintains the Clean Room and equipment, and monitors inventory.

- Assist the pharmacist in maintaining federal, provincial, and local laws, accrediting body standards, and Policies and Procedures (P&Ps).

- Prepares sterile parenteral medication including Chemotherapy, Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) and other medications, following appropriate aseptic technique and required checks by pharmacist.
- Dispenses Appropriately the right drug, right quantity to the right patient.
- Scan all pumps in NAV for appropriate tracking
- Affix the correct labels and appropriate auxiliary labels (refrigerate, light sensitive, multi dose, room temp.) on products.
- Checks products for the absence of particulate matter. Discoloration and container integrity.
- Ensures compounded product gets matched to the right delivery prior to shipping.
- Maintains appropriate inventory levels of drugs and supplies
- Receives and stores medications properly (fridge/room temp).
- Performs physical daily inventory according to (P&Ps)
- Maintains pharmacy records including filing and documenting required information on dispensing records.
- Maintains housekeeping and remove/ disposal of biomedical to designated area.
- Cleans work areas routinely in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Communicates appropriately with all members of the healthcare team.
- Documents appropriately according to P&Ps, all activities using required paperwork (logs)
- Participates in Performance Improvement and Quality Assurance activities education programs and department/branch meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualification

**WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM**
- Pharmacy Assistant Certificate/Diploma from an accredited institution is preferred or equivalent experience in a pharmacy community or hospital setting.
- Certification as a Registered Pharmacy Assistant, desirable but not required.
- Pharmacy experience in community or hospital setting
- 2-3 years, IV admixture skill is preferred
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals. Ability to understand basic medical terminology.
- Ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and must be able to perform basic algebraic calculations.
- IV admixture skill; organized and disciplined; basic computer skills.
- Lifting required as per employee capacity, employee must notify Supervisor regarding any health issues that may affect ability to lift
