**Shifts: Days including weekends**
**Rate of Pay: $26.09 - $27.59 per hour**

Reporting to the Manager, Specialized Geriatric Services, the Personal Support Worker (PSW) supports and assists clients living with a dementia in all aspects of their activities of daily living while attending the Manor House Adult Day Program. As an active member of the team, the PSW assists with the planning, implementing, and evaluating of clients' plans of care and related activities.

**Qualifications**:
**Education/Experience**:

- Personal Support Worker certificate from a recognized college program or previous experience providing personal care
- Demonstrated experience and interest in working with senior populations and individuals living with a dementia

**Skills/Abilities**:

- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, clients, families and other stakeholders
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities relative to the situation and scope of practice
- Demonstrated commitment to client centered care
- Ability to work as part of a team and also independently, with mínimal supervision
- Demonstrated regular attendance at work

**Assets**:

- Certification relevant to practice setting (i.e. Gerontology, Dementia), including training in Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA) and U-First
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with individuals with various types of dementia and who may experience behavioural changes
- Safe Food Handling certificate

**CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT**
This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
