**Position: Full-Time Permanent**

**SUMMARY OF POSITION**:
In keeping with the objectives, policies and procedures, assists in providing therapeutic, recreation and educational programs for residents/ tenants to achieve desired quality of life outcomes. Reporting to the Recreation Manager and working collaboratively with other staff members, tenants/residents, families & volunteers to create a place that is warm and welcoming to live, work and visit.

**REPONSIBILITIES**:
Includes but not limited to;
- Taking direction from Recreation Coordinator promotes, plans, implements and evaluates a wide variety of recreational, spiritual, educational and individualized programs.
- Publishes schedule/calendar of monthly events in collaboration with the Recreation Coordinator.
- Contacts or meets with external agencies and resources in planning social events and celebrations
- Promotes and encourages participation of all staff members to engage with resident/tenant in leisure and recreation programs.
- Records and maintains written records regarding resident/tenant participation.
- Observes and reports any changes in resident’s/tenant’s health status or other concerns including unsafe conditions.
- Contributes articles and information for the Selkirk Place newsletter.
- Provides relevant support to volunteers as per volunteer role descriptions.
- Follows relevant protocol for the safe operation and storage/inventory of recreation/leisure equipment and resource materials.
- Follows established bus protocol for community outings.
- Assists with Resident/Tenant Meetings.
- Participates in Quality Improvement activities.
- Compliance with all Acts, Regulations, policies and protocols relevant to the position.
- Performs other related duties as required/assigned to meet operational needs of the organization
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Diploma/Certificate/Courses in Recreation (preferably Recreation therapy)
- Certificates in CPR, First Aid and (recent) Food Safe
- Serving It Right
- Two Years recent related experience

5. Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

6. All successful applicants must pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check applicable to Provincial guidelines.

- Ability to be sensitive to client needs and provide accurate and detailed information.
- Be positive and supportive.
- Compliance with all Acts, Regulations, Policies and Protocols relevant to the position.
- Identify and report safety concerns.
- Explain requirements in a constructive and helpful manner.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
