**Summary**
Hydrovac Swamper assists the Hydrovac Operator in performing safe and efficient hydro excavation using high-pressure water and vacuum systems. This role involves supporting excavation activities around utilities, pipelines, and other underground infrastructure while maintaining strict safety standards.
**Responsibilities**
- **Assist Hydrovac Operations**: Support the operator during daylighting, trenching, and utility exposure tasks.
- **Equipment Setup & Breakdown**: Assemble/disassemble hoses, fittings, and hydrovac components daily.
- **Site Preparation & Cleanup**: Set up safety barriers, traffic cones, and signage; maintain a clean worksite.
- **Hose Handling**: Manage hoses and wands during excavation, ensuring proper placement and safe operation.
- **Safety Compliance**: Follow all safety protocols, wear PPE, and help spot underground utilities to prevent damage.
- **Equipment Maintenance**: Perform basic maintenance tasks such as greasing fittings and cleaning filters under operator guidance.

**Requirements**:
- **Education**: High school diploma or GED preferred.
- **Licenses**: Valid driver’s license required; Class 5 or 3A,1A is an asset.
- **Experience**: No prior experience required, but construction or utility work experience is preferred.
- **Physical Ability**: Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and work in outdoor environments under varying conditions.
- **Skills**:
- Knowledge of hydrovac processes and equipment
- Understanding of safety protocols and spotting procedures
- Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively
**Work Conditions**
- Outdoor work in all weather conditions
- Travel to field locations may be required
- Overtime and weekend work possible

Pay: $20.00-$27.00 per hour
