Material Handler

**Summary**
The Material Handler performs manual and clerical duties related to shipping, receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing and delivering a variety of materials, equipment and supplies. He/she is required to work as part of the team to support production in a safe, efficient and effective manner to meet and exceed the goals and objectives of the company and its customers. The Material Handler position requires having a valid lift truck license. Adhere to the Employee Policy Manual.
**Risk Management**:
- Ensure all tasks are completed in a safe manner; follow provincial and company health and safety regulations & Plant Safe Practices.
- Qualify and maintain safety certifications as required.
- Assist in workplace inspections when requested.
- Report any safety issues to direct supervisor.
**Quality Management**:
- Adhere to GMPs.
- Provide input to resolve quality issues.
- Complete all tasks in a quality manner as outlined in the company's mission statement.
- Anticipate and identify potential quality issues to appropriate personnel.
**Responsibilities**:
- Enter all material movements in computerized inventory systems, RTCIS (P&G’s system) and Nulogy (GH’s system). **Every time a pallet is moved, it must be scanned and recorded.**:
- Prioritize activities to ensure that production schedules are maintained.
- Confirm correct Julian dates in RTCIS and process orders in the system as required.
- Move all components to the production lines as required using correct process order numbers.
- Ensure all components for each job (trays, corner posts, etc.) are moved to required areas and that materials are listed in the Specifications.
- Facilitate in-warehouse moves to allow space for line takeaway of produced items.
- Assist Line Leaders with RTCIS material movements.
- Load and unload trailers. Check that all products are scanned into trailers or rows at end of shift.
- Stretch wrap and line takeaway.
- Print Pallet Labels as required.
- Secure materials at the end of a project. Ensure line clearance procedures are followed.
- Print out receiving paperwork and check out trailer in the system.
- Anticipate problems and suggest solutions to be implemented to ensure continuous improvement.
- Participate in team meetings and on other committees as available.
- Assist in the orientation of new employees and training on all RTCIS/Nulogy inventory transactions.
- Shipping/receiving of small deliveries as required.
- Assist as back-up for the Production Team, participating as a Line Operator as required.
**Qualifications (Required education/experience/skills/abilities)**
- High school diploma and/or related work experience
- Valid lift truck license with the ability to operate a lift truck in a safe manner (good vision, hearing, and manual dexterity).
- Effective communication (verbal and listening) and reading comprehension skills.
- Experience with warehouse management computer systems and the ability to input and interpret data as required.
- Verify, organize and manage records, electronically.
- To actively support a positive team environment, be supportive and flexible to changing processes.
- Good numeracy skills.
