**What you’ll do**:
- Responsible for planning, writing and editing programs, selection and/or preparation of tooling for these operations when needed.
- Ensure effective production of quality parts by checking drawings or sketches, using gauges and other measuring equipment.
- Program, load control media such as disk or direct numerical control, in machine control console or enters commands to retrieve pre-programmed machine instructions from the database.
- Observe numerical displays on control panel and compare with data on process sheet for accuracy.
- Write and/or edit programs to optimize and/or correct machine performance; adjust feed and speed and change cutters to ensure that parts are machined according to specifications.
- Assemble and preset tooling for next operation during automated cycle to reduce machine downtime.
- May require set up and operation of a second machine during controlled machining cycles.
- Conduct minor preventative maintenance procedures as scheduled and complete minor troubleshooting as required.
- Observes and listens to machine operation in order to detect malfunctions such as worn or damaged cutting tools when possible.
- Notify Team Leader when run times are incorrect or product will not meet time lines.
- Ensure machining tasks are completed in accordance with specified run times.
- Report discrepancies to the appropriate department.
- Provide guidance and/or training for apprentices when required.
- Make recommendations for productivity and/or method improvements.
- Ensure ISO guidelines are followed; follow Job Instruction Sheets and Tag Procedures etc.
- Other duties may be assigned.
**Basic Requirements**:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience in a precision machining environment or training.
**Great to Haves**:
- General Machinist Apprenticeship would be helpful.
- Experience machining components to tight tolerances (5 microns) and can work independently.
- Ability to quickly assess specifications and CNC programs to maintain machining accuracy is necessary to produce/manufacture a high quality product with close tolerances.
- Ability to set up, operate and troubleshoot on the equipment while capable of performing several processes is required.
