The Festival Manager will assist with all aspects of planning, running and executing an established music festival. Tasks will include stakeholder relationships, contract negotiations, staff supervision, managing schedules, compliance with local laws and permit requirements to name a few while supporting our shared goal of creating meaningful value and an exceptional experience for our customers, our people and our community.
**What you will be doing**:
- Provide leadership, overall management and guidance to all staff, team leads, summer and co-op students.
- Drive and increase the value of Festival through, but not limited to, the following
- Develop and maintain sponsorship opportunities and assist in overall sponsorship planning and execution.
- Research and evaluate Grant opportunities and assist in grant writing and reporting.
- Explore new revenue streams and growth opportunities.
- Align with local and national stakeholders, vendors, contractors, and suppliers ensuring relationships are maintained, best practices are met and all required documentation, permits, insurance, etcetera are in place for the festival and secondary events on an as needed basis.
- Drive ticket sales through innovative marketing initiatives on multiple platform.
- Develop a unique and memorable VIP experience program.
- Compile daily priority files and review key issues, action items, and pending deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and health/safety standards.
- Develop and manage Festival budgets, schedules, operational plans and reporting.
- Collaborate with the programming team to confirm artist lineups, scheduling, and logistics.
- Oversee Festival marketing and promotional efforts in conjunction with the marketing committee and marketing Team Lead.
- Coordinate regular partner and team meetings to ensure partners, staff and key leads have all relevant information and are on target to successfully execute in their areas of responsibility.
- Establish and implement evaluation plans to monitor and maintain organizational direction with input and assistance from Team Leads, including, but not limited to, patron and volunteer surveys.
- Develop and implement office policies and procedures including, but not limited to, office organization and security.
**What we look for**:
- Experience with festival management experience, music event planning, large-scale events or other related experience considered an asset but not required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Familiarity with Ontario’s arts and culture landscape, music industry and festival industry trends.
- Knowledge of local laws, regulations and permitting processes.
- Demonstrated media relations, marketing, and promotion skills.
- Experience with grant research and writing an asset.
- Strong critical thinking as well as analytical skills.
