Lead Regulatory Compliance Manager

**Position Description**
The Lead Regulatory Compliance Manager provides leadership, consultation and direction to management necessary to facilitate the implementation and maintenance of policies, processes, governance and infrastructure in accordance with associated regulatory expectations. Functioning as an independent and objective second line of defense, the Lead Regulatory Compliance Manager reviews and evaluates compliance issues and concerns within the organization and provides expertise and direction to correct non-compliance with regulatory requirements. This position collaborates and interacts with leadership and key stakeholders at all levels throughout the Credit Union, providing expert advice and consultation in the field of Regulatory Compliance.
**Accountabilities**
- **Leadership**:Provides leadership, direction, advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders. Establishes and maintains open communication and fosters inter-divisional communication. Ensures compliance-related training activities are conducted for all employees within the organization and content adhere to regulatory requirements.
- **Regulatory Compliance Awareness**:Through the delivery of regulatory compliance workshops, ensures support, education and training is in place enterprise wide to build a compliance culture at all levels across the organization and drive change.
- **Oversight and Reporting**:Develops and maintains monthly and quarterly compliance reports, findings and recommendations to inform FWLT and the Board on regulatory compliance risks. Consults with division leaders on risk items and ensures accuracy and context of issues. Provides thought leadership on compliance matters such as consumer protection, CIDC, complaint management etc.
- **Regulatory Compliance**:Maintains compliance policies and works with process owners to ensure regulatory requirements are embedded in operational procedures, processes and systems; and applies recommendations to business operations; develops and keeps current on industry knowledge, professional development and regulatory change.
- **Regulatory Engagement**:Supports the VP, Compliance to maintain effective working relationships with applicable regulatory bodies; (FCAC, CDIC, BCFSA and OSFI) regarding regulatory requirements, reporting and inquiries. Analyzes industry trends to support the development of policies, procedures, systems and processes that meet changing regulatory requirements. Provides leadership and expertise on the laws, regulations and policies impacting FW's operations.

- Provides functional/technical guidance or advice to other employees(no direct supervisory responsibilities)
**Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree (in a related discipline) - or equivalent combination of education/experience
- 5+ years progressive compliance experience with Federally Regulated Financial Institutions
- Expertise of regulatory and legislative obligations for Federally Regulated Financial Institutions e.g.: OSFI Guidance, The Bank Act, FCAC, CDIC
- Knowledge of bank/credit union operational processes is preferred
- Qualifications/Certifications in Regulatory Compliance, Audit, or Risk and Compliance Governance are considered an asset
- Experience working with federal regulators is an asset

**Travel**
Overnight travel may be occasionally required, up to 6 times per year
