We are looking for an Environmental Performance Business Partner at Walker - Head Office location to support our Aggregates & Construction Division in the Niagara and Essex regions.

Reporting directly to the Environmental Performance Manager, the Environmental Performance Business Partner provides strategic and tactical support services to facility locations. The EPD Business Partner is responsible for assisting facility staff in adhering to corporate environmental policies/programs and regulatory requirements, providing advice and direction to management related to regulatory and corporate requirements, liaising with government agencies relating to issues, new or existing site permits and approvals, and carrying out activities that support the EPD’s strategic plans.

**Primary Responsibilities**
- Supports facility staff with adherence to corporate environmental policies, permit requirements and legislative requirements. Provides advice and direction to management related to these requirements.
- Delivers and/or supports facility supervisors in delivery of environmental-related training programs (i.e. EnviroTalks, spills training, ECA/permit required training) to employees.
- Manages environmental monitoring programs including the parties (i.e. internal staff, external consultants) involved in these programs.
- Conducts Environmental Performance Reviews (audits) of facility locations.
- Supports facility supervisors in development of corrective action plans (CAPs) related to government inspections and corporate inspections.
- Assists with acquisition due diligence and related facility onboarding.
- Prepares and delivers climate and energy action plans to facility locations. Provides support to management and operations with these plans.
- Monitors government actions and potential new legislation.
- Participates in the development and execution of EPD’s strategic plans. Provides support in the execution of WAI’s strategic plans, as needed.

- Familiarity with Ontario Regulations 406/19 (Excess Soils), 347 (Waste Management), 903 (Water Wells), 675/98 (Spills Exemptions and Reporting), 452/09 (Greenhouse Gas Emissions) and 419/05 (Air Pollution).
- Familiarity with the Environmental Protection Act, Ontario Water Resources Act, Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, Endangered Species Act, Migratory Birds Convention Act, Aggregate Resources Act, and Noise Guideline NPC-300.

**Education & Job Knowledge**

A minimum of a college diploma/university degree in environmental science, or similar, is required for this role. Professional designation (C.E.T. or other) is considered an asset.

**Experience**
- Greater than 3 years of experience in environmental compliance or environmental science fields.
- Experience managing long-term environmental monitoring programs including interpreting laboratory analytical results, in particular excess soils, groundwater and surface water.
- Experience drafting/reviewing technical reports including analyzing and interpreting of information.
- Experience working with stakeholders including government agencies (i.e. Ministry of the Environment), environmental consultants and the public.
- Experience obtaining government-issued approvals and permits (i.e. Environmental Compliance Approvals, Permits to Take Water) considered an asset.
- Working experience with Adaptive Management Plans (AMPs) considered an asset.
- Experience conducting audits considered an asset.
- Working experience with aggregates (pits and quarries) considered an asset.
- Technical experience working with compliance-based software (i.e. Dakota) considered an asset.
