Autism Nova Scotia delivers programming in Halifax and in nine communities across Nova Scotia through our Regional Autism Centers. Our three program divisions are: Social & Community Inclusion; Employment Support; and Family and Caregiver Support.

**Community Leadership Coach**

**Term: 3 Month Term**:Casual (3-7 hours per week). Flexible schedule and Evening availability is required

**What you’ll be doing**
- Community Leadership_(CL) is a program designed to support Autistic youth / youth on the autism spectrum aged 14-18 in developing skills and gaining knowledge within their communities. Through a person directed approach, Community Leadership centers each person’s voice in their goal setting, community engagement, and skill building.

The program revolves around group learning and discussion, as well as volunteer experiences. Community Leadership Coaches will play a key role in supporting participants as they work towards their goals and exercise self-determination within the community.

You must have:
**Minimum qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in a related field considered an asset
- Clear, current Criminal Records Check and Child Abuse Registry Check is required
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification is considered an asset

**Minimum experience**:

- Knowledge and experience working with Autistic individuals and individuals on the autism spectrum or other developmental disabilities, and/or experience in supported employment
- Experience with alternative forms of communication (PECs, iPad, sign language) is considered an asset

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Support 5 program participants and 5 peer volunteers at group learning sessions, volunteer experience sessions and one-to-one goal sessions
- Collaborate with and consult the CL Program Facilitator to assure exceptional support is delivered and issues of support-gaps, accessibility, accommodation, and adaptations are highlighted and addressed
- Navigate and support program participants in identifying and working toward goals and skill development
- Attend weekly planning and check-in meetings
- Adhere to all policies and procedures including those identified in the Policies and Procedures Manual and the Staff Manual
- Administrative tasks related to planning
- Other duties as required

**Essential and Other Related Job Duties**:

- A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle (Travel required)
- **As a Proof of Vaccination organization, all Autism Nova Scotia staff are required to be fully vaccinated. Those who cannot be vaccinated due to medical, religious, or cultural reasons must wear a mask at all times, practice social distancing, and sanitize their hands upon entry while inside Autism Nova Scotia offices or community program spaces. In addition, proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within the last 48-72 hours will be required.**_
