**Job Summary & Key Responsibilities**
**The Department of Community Health and Epidemiology in the Faculty of Medicine**is seeking a** highly motivated and dedicated Postdoctoral Fellow**to join the **Soillse Research Lab for Cancer Survivorship & Patient Empowerment.** This fellowship offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative, patient-centred research that aims to improve health and quality of life outcomes in people diagnosed with cancer and chronic conditions.
- The team collaborates with a diverse range of stakeholders to develop, implement, and evaluate patient empowerment and lifestyle intervention strategies that enhance mental and physical well-being. Some of the key research initiatives include the **Prostate Cancer Patient Empowerment Program (PC-**PEP**) (**pcpep.org**), the Cancer Patient Empowerment Program (**cancerpep.org**), and the Pictou County Personal Empowerment Program (**pictoucountypep.org**).**
- The team employs qualitative, quantitative, mixed-methods, and knowledge synthesis approaches to improve our understanding of survivorship needs and assess intervention effectiveness. Over the next three years, the team will be leading a research program focused on addressing the unique survivorship needs of traditionally marginalized and underrepresented individuals diagnosed with prostate cancer, through the PC-PEP intervention.
**Key responsibilities**:
- Prepare knowledge translation materials, including scientific manuscripts, reports, and presentations based on research findings.
- Conduct quantitative data analysis, including data cleaning, descriptive and inferential statistics, and the creation of results tables and summaries.
- Conduct qualitative data analysis, including dataset preparation, coding, and development of thematic frameworks.
- Design and refine research tools and documentation, such as study protocols, consent forms, surveys, interview guides, and case report forms.
- Support participant recruitment, data collection, and administration of questionnaires and interviews.
- Assist with grant writing, including drafting proposals, identifying funding opportunities, and supporting the submission process.
- Lead or contribute to systematic reviews and meta-analyses to synthesize evidence on survivorship and interventions.
- Engage in knowledge mobilization activities, including conference presentations, community forums, and stakeholder meetings.
- Collaborate with and provide support to research staff involved in the project.
- Mentor graduate and undergraduate students.
**Qualifications/Requirements of Position**
- **Required qualifications**:
- PhD in a health sciences discipline by the appointment start.
- Proficiency in both quantitative and qualitative data collection and research methods.
- Experience using quantitative (e.g., R, SPSS, or Stata) and qualitative analytic software (e.g., NVivo).
- Excellent scientific writing skills, with a strong track record of peer-reviewed publications.
- Experience with intervention research and/or implementation science.
- Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as autonomously.
- **Assets**:
- Mixed-methods research skills.
- Experience with grant writing.
- Bilingual in English and French. Additional language abilities are an asset.
**Salary Range/Pay Rate**
- 65,000/yr - $70,000 annual
