Located in Simcoe, Ontario, **Norfolk General Hospital **provides exceptional healthcare to a municipality of approximately 69,000 people. Our area of focus provides a continuum of service throughout the life span of the people we serve including Emergency, Critical Care, Obstetrics, Medicine, Surgery, and Complex Continuing Care. Employing approximately 550 highly skilled and dedicated employees, Norfolk General Hospital is a full service, 106-bed hospital with 24/7 on-call coverage of Specialists in Surgery, Anesthesia, Internal Medicine, and Obstetrics as well as on-site 24-hour per day medical coverage. Positions may also provide support to the Norfolk Hospital Nursing Home, an 80-bed long-term care facility as well as providing support to Holmes House a 12-bed rehabilitation facility.

Simcoe is less than one hour away from most major centres, including Hamilton and London, and only 90 minutes from the Greater Toronto Area. Situated in Norfolk County (Ontario’s South Coast), Simcoe is not far from Lake Erie and the 88 miles of shoreline that includes long stretches of sandy beach.

**Clinical Educator - Maternal Newborn**

**About the Position**:
As a member of the Clinical Development team at Norfolk General Hospital, you will:

- Report to the Manager of Clinical Development
- Provide leadership and clinical expertise to support excellence in patient centered care to Maternal Newborn families
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives in alignment with the organization strategic directions
- Advocate that College Legislation, regulations, evidence-based practice, maintaining professional practice standards are met
- Facilitate continuous learning and professional development through educating, coaching and mentoring of staff
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
- Develop needs assessment to inform ongoing staff development including:

- Organization and provision of clinical orientation and education throughout hospital with a focus on Maternal Newborn care
- Coordinate educational activities (i.e.: Clinical Skills Fair and Patient Safety Week, mock drills)
- Develop goals and objectives to support evidence informed practice e.g., SOGC guidelines
- Demonstrate competence and compliance with best practices (i.e.: Accreditation ROPs)
- Ability to assist in development of conduct, and evaluate an annual Education plan
- Maintain current Maternal Newborn knowledge and competency and role-model continuous lifelong learning

**Position Qualifications**:

- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario required
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing
- Master’s level University degree or in progress (preferred)
- BCLS, NRP required
- PALS preferred
- Current Fetal Health Surveillance Certification
- Completed Perinatal Course, Level 1 and Level 2 from Accredited College
- Completed Breastfeeding Course/Certificate
- Minimum 2 years recent obstetrics clinical experience is mandatory
- Experience in an adult education role preferred
- Experience as a mentor/preceptor of staff and/or students
- Proficiency in mentoring and development of new staff
- Knowledge and skill in change management
- Ability to be strategic and innovative
- Ability to design, deliver and evaluate education programs
- Excellent written, verbal, and computer skills (Meditech, Microsoft)
- Ability to be self-directed in fast paced environment
- Excellent attendance record
- Excellent multi-tasking skills
- Excellent public speaking and presentation skills
- Excellent in project management
