Overhead Door Technician

Northern Doors in Grande Prairie, Alberta is growing Our Overhead Door Division is currently seeking an experienced Overhead Door Installer/Service Technician to join our team.

We are well established, family-oriented company located in Grande Prairie, AB. We service all of Grande Prairie and surrounding Peace Country. Northern Doors services, maintains and installs an extensive range of products, such as: commercial overhead doors, residential garage doors, hollow metal man doors and so much more.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Servicing, repairing and installing various overhead door products including: sectional overhead doors, electric operators, gate operators, loading dock equipment, rolling doors, fire doors, rollshutters, etc.
- Completing all paperwork accurately and handing it in on a on timely basis, including taking jobsite photos.
- Communicating and maintaining working relationships with customers, and contractors.
- Communicating with the service scheduler on a regular basis.
- Working closely with the shop foreman: loading, unloading, inventory control, and general housekeeping.
- Working closely with your helper (when assigned one) to complete all necessary assigned tasks.
- Ensuring your jobsite area is tidied and all garbage is disposed of.

Qualifications & Requirements:

- A minimum 2 years experience working as an overhead door technician; servicing, repairing and installing various overhead door products including: sectional overhead doors, electric operators, gate operators, loading dock equipment, rolling doors, fire doors, rollshutters, etc.
- Mechanically inclined, detail orientated with strong problem-solving skills.
- Reliable, have a positive attitude and have a strong work ethic.
- Must have the ability to work comfortably at various heights.
- Must be able to walk, stand and/or kneel for long periods of time, while performing required tasks.
- It is important to have good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must be able to read, write, & speak English fluently.
- Must have the ability to work in varying weather conditions and environments.
- Our company provides 24-hour emergency service 7 day. Our lead technicians need to be able to work overtime and be on a rotational on-call schedule.
- Steel-toed work boots and hard hat.
- Must be able to work well in a team setting and independently.
- Valid class 5 driver’s license, and clean driver’s abstract.
- Must be able to pass a standard drug and alcohol test.
- CDI Certification is an asset but is not required.
- Any relevant safety training and safety tickets are an asset; such as: Welding, Aerial Work Platform, Fall Protection, H2S, First Aid, Forklift Training, etc.

This is a permanent, full-time position.

Contract work can be discussed if desired.

Our company provides 24-hour emergency service, all lead hands are on a rotational on-call schedule. Some weekends and overtime will be required.

Working out of town will also be required on occasion.

A company truck is supplied during working hours with a company gas card.

A company cell phone is also provided or compensation for use of your personal cell phone if preferred.

Coveralls will be provided.

The wage offered will be based on experience. The company benefit plan is available after 3 months.
