Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Operations Supervisor will promote a teamwork culture and successfully overlook the daily operations processes in regard to the coordination of drivers and vehicles. They will also ensure that the organization successfully implements and complies with all procedures, safety and other regulatory requirements.
- Directs the day to day allocation of resources (equipment, people, materials and systems) to achieve delivery targets in a safe and cost-efficient manner.
- Directs all loading and unloading operations including problem packages.
- Provides a strong floor presence within the warehouse and understanding of the process adequate to set the example for others to follow.
- Works closely and collaboratively with the Operations Manager to build and develop a team of drivers that is motivated, energized and proud to be part of the company.
- Coordinate training for new drivers.
- Assist in training and follow up for new drivers.
- Ensures all drivers are knowledgeable on route planning and scanners. Following up when necessary,
- Collaborate with Operations Manager regarding driver job expectations, monitoring and addressing employee performance issues quickly and effectively.
- Reviews daily achievement of targets and reports mis-sorts, driver changes, missed deliveries.
- Supports and acts on continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensures policies and procedures are followed by drivers.
- Coordinate all packages are being taken by the drivers and being delivered as per customer requirements.
- Monitor all customer freight brought to the warehouse, collaborate with Operations Manager when issues arise.
- Follow up with scanning issues, escalating when necessary.
- Assist with customer inquiries when necessary.
- Assist as back up to Dispatcher on daily dispatching practices, customer requests, POD requests, special deliveries and pick ups, etc.
- Provides reports and documentation when requested.
- Maintaining a professional attitude and keeping composure at all times.
- Driver route planning when necessary.
- Other duties as assigned by manager.
