PAINTER - GENERAL MAINTENANCE PERSON

Permanent, Full-time

The Sudbury Catholic District School Board is located in Northeastern Ontario and serves approximately 6,800 students in 17 schools located in Greater Sudbury, as well as in Killarney.

**Required Qualifications/Skills/Abilities**:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION

Secondary (High) School diploma or equivalent

Must hold and maintain a valid driver’s license.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE

Superior knowledge in relevant field of painting

Working knowledge of relevant building codes & standards, legislation, regulations

Working knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act & Regulations

Working knowledge in the safe and effective use of all applicable power, hand, and small tools and equipment.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Three to five (3-5) years recent related experience.

SKILLS/ABILITIES

Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Ability to provide, as required and as specified, own transportation for materials, equipment and labour

Ability to adjust to changes in workload and priorities

Ability to work in and around occupied buildings

Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, equipment and material specifications

Strong attention to detail

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing (English)

Ability to attend work on a regular basis

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Self-starter and ability to work with mínimal supervision

Ability to communicate and relate with people tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times

Ability to operate various equipment

Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE

Able to confirm existing wall finishes and to efficiently match existing paint colours

Able to assemble and erect scaffolding

Experience with frequent work on ladders, scaffolds and ariel platforms

Working at Heights certification

Current valid First Aid (basic standard) and CPR certifications.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Regular lifting/carrying of furniture, tools, equipment and building materials etc. 25 lbs. (occasionally up to 75 lbs.)

Frequent standing, walking, crouching, kneeling, bending, climbing, crawling.

The salary for this position is $31.36 per hour and includes comprehensive benefit package.
