Position Overview:
This role requires a confident leader and communicator who takes pride and initiative to develop, coach and lead their team. The main objective will be to address our production equipment and process challenges and successfully raise each employee’s level of knowledge and skills so that they can quickly install, troubleshoot and adjust or repair existing and new equipment being introduced in the plant.

Promotion of employee safety and ensuring overall compliance to the Occupational Health & Safety Act are also a key part of this role.

This role is fundamental to the efficient operation of plant equipment and services, including cost control, safety, and product quality. The Maintenance Supervisor will be called on to provide recommendations for continuous improvement of resources (staff, equipment, inventory), processes and efficiencies against standard.

The key position outcomes are as follows:
- Maintain an effective preventative maintenance program;- Reduce/eliminate mechanical downtime;- Utilize equipment, supplies and personnel to maximize maintenance effectiveness;- Achieve budget plans;- Ensure security of buildings & premises.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Adheres to safe work practices.- Develop maintenance procedures and ensure implementation- Carry out inspections of the facilities to identify and resolve issues- Check electrical and hydraulic systems of buildings to ensure functionality- Plan and oversee all repair and installation activities- Allocate workload and supervise upkeep staff (custodians, janitors etc.)- Monitor equipment inventory and place orders when necessary- Monitor expenses and control the budget for maintenance- Manage relationships with contractors and service providers- Keep maintenance logs and report on daily activities- Ensure health and safety policies are complied with- Plan and execute production to fulfill all regulatory as well as SQF requirements.- Perform any other duties as required.

Skills and Qualifications:
- Having a technical degree in an electrical discipline (Red Seal) with 3-5 years experience in managing a maintenance team preferably within a food manufacturing environment will be an asset.- You are able to work under pressure within a deadline driven and fast paced environment.- You must have good computer skills in MS Office and working knowledge and experience with preventative maintenance software.- Completed a fully indentured apprenticeship with a mechanical/electrical/electronic discipline (Millwright)- Technical capability and understanding;- Understanding of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP);lean manufacturing;- Experience of managing Profit & Loss responsibilities for maintenance;- Understanding of TS16949, IOSH/NEBOSH, ISO 14001.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the associate is occasionally exposed to wet, hot, extreme cold and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee may work non-traditional business hours including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. The employee may occasionally be required to travel as business needs dictate (i.e. training, business continuation, etc.). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
