**Description**:
The Data Science Analyst plays an integral role in the Centre of Excellence for Reporting at GS1 Canada by providing reporting and analytical support for GS1 Canada systems, Industry Managed Solutions (IMS’s), and cross functional departments. This includes model development and implementation, regular and ad-hoc reporting, database maintenance, and projects.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Deliver on reporting, analysis, data validation, and project related requests from different business stakeholders.**
- Liaise with stakeholders to perform root cause analysis, evaluating business requirements, identifying the success criteria and timelines for requests.
- Use our standard toolkit - SQL, Excel, VBA, PowerBI, and Python, strong problem solving skills and the requirements obtained by the stakeholder to solution and deliver on requests within the department’s established turn-around-time (TAT) or within the requestor’s lead time.
- Perform validations on the data to ensure accuracy and relevancy of the result before delivering on requests.
- Create documentation and SOP’s for requests where applicable to maintain procedures for data management and reporting standards. Schedule and automate tasks where applicable to reduce repetitive or manual work.

**Model Development and Implementation.**
- Utilize expertise in statistical analysis, machine learning and data mining techniques to solve complex business problems and add value to the subscribers and internal customers.
- Develops and implements predictive and prescriptive models using machine learning algorithms.

**Proactively identify areas of opportunity to optimize existing SOP’s, explore new technologies for reporting automation, and improvements to our ETL processes and data models.**
- Actively contributes ideas for areas of improvement in current procedures and works collaboratively with the Data Science Analytics Lead and other Data Science Analysts to deliver on these process improvement initiatives.
- Ensure ongoing understanding of relevant emerging technologies and services provided by GS1 Canada.

**Execute the refresh of GS1 Canada’s TrueSourceTM Dashboard - a portal used by retailers and vendors to evaluate data content compliance essential for commerce.**
- Work with the Industry Relations/Industry Engagement team to onboard new Data Recipients onto the dashboard.
- Perform the tasks related to the dashboard refresh in a timely manner to ensure the deadline is met.
- Deliver on recurring dashboard related reports and ad-hoc analysis with the Industry Relations/Industry Engagement team.

**Skills, Knowledge & Expertise**:

- At least 1-3 years of experience using Excel for reporting and VBA for automation.
- At least 1-3 years of experience in PowerBI or related technology for data visualization.
- At least 1-3 years of experience in SQL for data mining and cleansing.
- At least 1-3 years of experience in creating and maintaining database models and ETL processes.
- At least 1-3 years of experience in Python for Data Analytics/Data Science is considered an asset.
- Understanding of Data Lake and Data Warehouse architecture and design is considered an asset.
- Excellent communication skills, you must be able to gather context from senior leadership and dive into details with developers and analysts and assist with the build of visualizations or storytelling which allow the business to make decisions with confidence.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills with a track record of developing, analyzing, and leveraging KPIs to develop actionable insights.

**Job Experience & Education Requirements**:

- Undergraduate university degree (Bachelor or Honours Bachelor)
Background in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Business Administration, or related field of study is preferred.
- 1-3 years' related experience with initial and On-going training
