Smokehouse Operator

_Located in the picturesque town of St. Jacobs, Heidelberg Foods Ltd. specializes in premium quality, great tasting, shelf stable meat products and meat snacks. We operate out of a state-of-the-art BRC Global Standard certified, federally registered, CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) regulated meat processing facility with additional facilities available in the Kitchener/Waterloo region to support expansion in Canada and internationally. All products are naturally wood smoked and made from the finest quality meats and spices, with no fillers. Our Noah Martin Country Store brand and private label customers' brands are enjoyed nationally and can be found at many chain grocery stores, delicatessens and independents._
- Heidelberg Foods Ltd. has an opening in its RAW production area at its St. Jacobs location._
- **ROLE OVERVIEW**:_
- _Ensure all set up is properly completed._
- _Must be able to work effectively with department equipment._
- _Responsible for the proper operation of all smokehouses, drying rooms and the quality of product that passes through_
- _Daily and weekly cleaning of smokehouses, smoke makers, drying rooms, and coolers_
- _Completion of quality control checks (Ph, aW) before releasing product to packaging_
- _Must be able to efficiently and effectively execute change over between products_
- _Must be able to accurately record production data as this is critical to the role._
- _Other related duties as assigned by the department Supervisor._
- Position is hourly: 40 - 44 hours per week _**Afternoon Shift (9:00 am - 6:30pm)**_at an hourly rate of $25.76 - $28.62 (depending upon experience) **Plus Benefits after three month probationary period.**._
- Typical Hours: Monday to Friday 9:00am - 6:30pm (Shift start times may vary depending upon production schedules.) _**This role will require weekend coverage of the smokehouse operations occasionally.**_
- Production environment temperature is 4 degrees Celsius or lower. Need to dress appropriately. Freezer jackets are supplied._
- **Responsibilities and Duties**_
- _Understand and adhere to all relevant and appropriate requirements of the Heidelberg Foods Ltd. Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), HACPP, FSEP, Safety Policy and all relevant legislation._
- _Complete all required production, GFSI and HACCP documentation._

- _Smokehouse knowledge preferable_

- _Must be able to maintain a clean and organized work area._
- _Experience in formulating and running a bowl chopper is an asset_
- _Experience with a Handtmann stuffer is an asset_
