**Nutrition Coordinator**

Position Summary

Reporting to the Uy’sqwalawun Childcare Centre Manager, the purpose of the Nutrition Coordinator is to plan and provide healthy menus for our food program according to food safe guidelines. In addition to food prep, this position will be responsible for general kitchen clean up and maintenance in accordance with Food Safe Procedures and routines, Environmental Health and Licensing, and Uy’sqwalawun Childcare Centre (UCC) polices, standards and procedures, and as directed by the Childcare Centre Manager.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, but not limited to:

- Plan and prepare meals for children groups
- Plan Menus in accordance to allergies, preferences and group advice from child care staff, ensuring all meals are nutritious and enjoyed.
- Maintain inventory, prepare weekly menus and grocery lists, monitor deliveries and place food orders while considering best deals and sales whenever possible
- Be prepared, on-short notice, to provide food services for the Group Childcare 3-5 program and Infant/Toddler programs when the other Nutrition Coordinator is away, plan and prepare meals for all children groups, up to 72 children.
- Ensures that all the food and kitchen area is safe and healthy
- Implement highest cleaning and sanitizing standards, with quick and efficient after meal clean-up and maintenance, using the proper sterilization methods in accordance to the First Nation Health Authority.
- Maintain a high standard of professional ethics in relationships with children, parents and other members of the staff and community.
- Involve children and staff in the planning, preparation and service of the food whenever possible.
- Post menus and share knowledge of eating healthy with parents/families/community.
- Work effectively within a team and independently, self-starts.
- Work with and advise the Manager of any needed repairs or equipment.
- As career progresses, incumbent may be required to successfully complete the job-required training and courses relating to the position, i.e. Snaw-Naw-As language, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Food Safe Certification Level 1
- Occupational First Aid Level 1
- Clean criminal record check
- Some experience cooking complete meals for groups.
- Excellent organizational skills and communication skills
- Up-to-date immunizations, including all recommended COVID-19 vaccines

WORK CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES AND PERSONAL SUITABILITY:

- Combination of sitting, standing, lifting and stirring/mixing large portions of food, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Reliability and dependability
- Sufficient vision and hearing to perform related job duties
- Able to lift equipment on an occasional basis (up to 50 lbs)

SCHEDULE

8 hour shift, directed by your manager

Monday to Friday, with evening and weekend work as may be required from time to time.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
