**Job Summary**:
The Psychological Health & Safety (PHS) Consultant is responsible for developing and delivering organizational development processes, strategies, and projects that are directed at fostering a culture of psychological health and safety in workplaces. The Consultant supports the development and implementation of strategic and operational PHS initiatives for external stakeholders, designed to strengthen health, resilience and well-being at the individual, team, leader and organizational levels.

**Job Duties**:
Designs, develops, and supports implementation of new and existing PHS management systems for external stakeholders and clients to identify and address key psychosocial factors impacting workforce mental health. This includes tailoring and recommending new and innovative models for PHS service delivery to meet the specific needs of their workplaces.

Provides consulting and training services to external stakeholders on complex return to work programs and practices involving psychological and catastrophic injuries.

Analyzes, evaluates and makes recommendations for improvements to new and existing PHS systems and processes.

Oversees a specific group of clients and supports a collaborative team environment by leading and participating in strategy development, decision-making, and information sharing.

Provides technical advice, consulting services and guidance regarding SAFE Work Manitoba PHS strategies, initiatives, policies and processes to external stakeholders who have increased degrees of program and claim complexity.

Analyzes injury data from multiple sources to identify trends and key workplace health and safety challenges including at-risk stakeholders within a portfolio.

Provides safety-related statistics and data; reviews the effectiveness of existing programming (including quality assurance reviews and gap analysis); and where necessary, in a consultative capacity, leverages, tailors and adds to divisional strategies to design customized plans, programs, tools, and other safety resources to address safety concern(s).

Fosters and maintains strong working relationships with Industry-based safety programs (IBSPs), workplaces, and other external stakeholders; and promotes the objectives of SAFE Work Manitoba.

Leads and participates on project teams for various SAFE Work Manitoba initiatives and strategies. This includes developing, managing and monitoring projects and initiatives.

Responds to complex inquiries on applicable legislative requirements, labour/management relationships, safety/work refusals and operational efficiencies.

Maintains awareness and remains current on new PHS developments, trends and best practices through regular and active research; implements best practices that align with the stakeholder's anticipated future needs.

Facilitates SAFE Work Manitoba workshops/training and develops and maintains training materials and other resources.

Conducts outreach activities and delivers services and presentations at conferences, trade shows, public relation events, and association meetings.

Promotes safety certification and works with IBSPs and workplaces to achieve certification; audits workplaces and provides recommendations to improve safety and health program effectiveness, with increased focus around elements pertaining to PHS. This includes quality assurance of SAFE Work certification audits.

Collaborates with Workplace Safety & Health, Federal Labour Program, and other Workers Compensation Board of Manitoba departments in order to assess, develop and implement workplace support programs.

Acts as an ambassador/representative for SAFE Work Manitoba on committees and at events.

Performs other related duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:
University Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.

Minimum five (5) years' experience in the development and delivery of safety and health initiatives or programs, including those specific to PHS, for clients, safety & health committees, representatives and employees in one of SAFE Work Manitoba's priority industries

Certification/designation in occupational health and safety or a related field involving workplace mental health, such as Psychological Health & Safety Certification

Specialized knowledge of psychological health and safety theory, strategies, and industry-leading practices

Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in sensitive settings, such as workplaces with complex PSH claims or significant psychological hazards

Demonstrated ability to influence change and decision-making at senior levels of an organization. This includes the ability to address the needs of stakeholders while considering the effects on a broader system

Knowledge of project management principles and practices

Well-developed research and analytical skills demonstrated by the ability to obtain, assess and evaluate data to support decisions
