Edmonton, Canada Alberta Health Services Full time

Your Opportunity:
Are you a transformative health care professional that excels in stakeholder engagement and program development? Cancer Care Alberta (CCA) has an exciting opportunity for a passionate leader to help build and guide our innovative Provincial Cellular Therapy Program (PCTP). In this new role, the Lead Provincial Cellular Therapy (LPCT) will possess a unique combination of healthcare, research, applied research and/or program leadership experience and expertise. Collaborative skills will be essential as you bridge research, clinical, government, philanthropic and private sector stakeholders who are driven to make a difference in treatment outcomes for people diagnosed with cancer or non-malignant conditions. Importantly, this role will develop, implement and continuously improve the PCTP roadmap ensuring it aligns and is consistent with CCA strategies. In 2021, Alberta established the first CAR T-cell program west of Ontario to offer CAR T-cell therapy for patients with hematologic malignancies. The province now has 3 supported CAR T-cell programs, offering therapies for both pediatric and adult populations with high-risk hematologic malignancies. In parallel, researchers in several of Alberta’s academic institutions are working to discover new cellular therapies with the goal of moving them from bench to bedside via clinical trials, biomanufacturing and potentially commercialization. You will help coordinate these activities ensuring that Alberta is moving towards a shared vision of bringing cutting edge treatments to patients as soon as possible. The LPCT will work closely with medical and scientific leadership/experts to expand and innovate services toward a broader range of malignant and non-malignant cell therapies as well as outpatient delivery to meet increasing demand.

Description:
Reporting to the Senior Program Lead for CCA, the LPCT is a key member of the CCA leadership team that is accountable for the development, implementation and evaluation of the roadmap and action plan for the Provincial Cellular Therapy program. The LCPT will collaborate closely with the Medical and Scientific Director for Cell Therapy and provide oversight and guidance across areas of research, discovery, innovation, biomanufacturing and care delivery. This progressive role will also collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders that include but are not limited to Alberta Health, the Alberta Cancer Foundation, University of Alberta, University of Calgary, Cancer Research Institute of Northern Alberta, Arnie Charbonneau Cancer Institute, Riddell Centre for Cancer Immunotherapy, National IEC Therapy Consensus Advisory Committee, numerous philanthropic organizations and more. The development and evaluation of KPI’s for continuous improvement and a commitment to improved patient outcomes will be essential. The major accountability will span the areas of Strategic Leadership, Quality Clinical Care & Coordination, Partnerships and stakeholder development, Implementation of Best Practice and Evidence Based Decision Making, Financial Management as well as Research and Analysis. Please note the LPCT is a grant funded role with a high likelihood of renewal and/or operationalization due to the significant growth forecasted in this program. The LPCT will be a flexible, remote-hybrid role that can be located anywhere in Alberta but may require some occasional travel to Edmonton and Calgary sites to promote operational objectives and build effective relations with academic and other stakeholders.
