Banff, Canada Town of Banff Full time

**Full Time, One Year Contract**:
As a Recreation Leader, you “Take care of Banff” by planning and delivering public recreation programs, youth programs and special events that generate excitement and participation. Working independently, you lead and facilitate youth drop-in programs, youth registered programs, as well as weekly drop-in recreation programs for the public in partner facilities and venues.

Your experience and recreation leadership fosters literacy and engagement in physical activity, life skills, social connections and trusting relationships in youth and adults. You will lead meaningful recreational program activities and complete a wide range of lesson plans to ensure participants are fully engaged and having fun in a safe environment. You understand that it is your inherent responsibility to not only lead quality recreation programs, but you also promote them in efforts to increase participation.

You are an effective communicator, who is “natural” at bringing together and engaging unique groups (particularly youth). You thrive on the dual challenge of blending technical and administrative tasks (e.g., maintaining equipment, allocating operating budgets, tracking, and recording data) with the interpersonal relationships you foster.

At a minimum you have completed grade 12 or equivalent educational achievement and have 500+ hours of supervisory or work experience with youth, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A post-secondary degree or diploma in a field related to recreation, physical or childhood education is an asset. You can demonstrate your proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and administrative duties. A clear and current driver’s abstract and RCMP criminal background check with vulnerable sector clearance are required on hire, as well as standard First Aid and CPR.

Working safely is a condition of employment at the Town of Banff. As part of our internal responsibility system, all employees are accountable for adhering to Occupational Health and Safety legislation and Town of Banff safety protocols. The Town of Banff’s safety culture philosophy is one of continuous improvement, so we look forward to your suggestions to make our workplace even safer.
