The Opportunity
Are you an individual that enjoys being hands on and at your best in a fast-paced environment? Merit Foods is looking for a motivated, experienced Warehouse Operator who wants to learn to join our team. This role ensures seamless processing of outgoing shipments and incoming items in the facility. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for an ambitious, hands-on, progressive position in an evolving organization. We will provide you with all of the training you need

What you'll do
- Process all required inventory and maintain adequate records for reporting and tracking.
- Unloading grain and working collaboratively with drivers.
- Loading finished product and bulk liquids for shipment.
- Oversee the secure and acc. urate loading and unloading of deliveries
- Track shipments and verify receipts of shipments as required.
- Assist with bulk chemical unloading and loading of bulk liquid extract.
- Manage inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
- Picking and verify customer orders for shipment.
- Assist warehouse team to ensure that shipments contain proper documentation and if multiple items per shipment, ensure item lists are complete and problem solve any discrepancies and or damages.
- Verify accuracy of shipments by counting, weighing, or measuring items and comparing size, weight, description, and code numbers with information on invoice or packing slip and purchase orders.
- Collect and document grain sample in the receiving area.
- Move inventory to various locations manually and by operating mechanical equipment, including forklift and pallet jack.
- Adhere to all company and plant polices related to GMP’s, Safety, work rules and standard operating procedures (SOP).
- Clean and maintain shipping, bulk loading bay and warehouse area.
- Work together professionally in a team environment with coworkers and other department personnel.
- All other duties assigned.

Your Experience and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of warehouse operator or shipping/receiving experience (food or dairy manufacturing is an asset but not required).
- Demonstrated planning, organizational and priority setting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret document such as invoices, packing slips and purchase orders.
- Entry level to Intermediate level mathematical skills.
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to frequent changes.
- Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently.
- A valid driver’s license.

Physical Demands
- Regularly required to walk and stand for extended periods of time, bend, twist, climb stairs and maneuver around manufacturing equipment consistently throughout the shift.
- Exposed to changing noise levels and changing temperatures (hot, wet, cold, and humid)
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather.
- Required to climb heights ranging from 20 to 60ft and lift/or move up to 50lbs on a routine basis.
