We are currently recruiting for:
Residential Counsellors (Support Workers) -Casual/Relief

Location: Liverpool and Milton, NS

Reporting to a House Supervisor, you will be responsible for supporting adults with intellectual disabilities in their day-to-day lives. Areas of support may include community access, recreation and leisure, household management, life skills, personal care, and medication administration. QASL is a dynamic and rewarding work environment where creativity and an individualized approach are encouraged to meet the needs and goals of each person you support.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Grade 12. Post-secondary education preferred but not required.
- Provincial Core Competencies:
*Fire and Life Safety *Individual Program Planning*Standard First Aid/CPR* Positive Principles and Practices of Non-Aversive Behavior Change* Crisis Invention* Medication Awareness* Basic Principles and Practices of Personal Care(*QASL will provide training for individuals who do not possess these competencies at the time of hiring.)
- Previous work or volunteer experience supporting adults with intellectual disabilities is an asset.
- Commitment to social inclusion and inclusive community living.
- Effective professional communication skills and an ability to liaise with key partners including families, professionals, and other agencies.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Proven ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organization and record keeping skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively within a team.
- Values and skills compatible with the type and level of support required.
- OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

- Successful applicants must be available to regularly work a variety of shifts including evening, overnight awake/asleep, and weekend shifts.
