**Job Title: Overnight Warming Center Security Personnel**

**Location**:24 Energy Court

**Hours**:12- 40 hours a week(Flexible hours may be required)

**Reports To**:Warming Center Supervisor

**Position Overview**:
The Overnight Warming Center Security Personnel is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of guests, staff, and the facility during operational hours. This role involves monitoring the premises, managing access control, de-escalating conflicts, and responding to emergencies in a calm and professional manner. The Security Personnel will work closely with the Warming Center team to create a safe, welcoming environment for individuals seeking shelter.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Safety and Security Monitoring**:

- Monitor the Warming Center premises, including entrances, exits, and common areas, to ensure a safe environment for all guests and staff.
- Conduct regular patrols of the facility, both indoors and outdoors, to identify and address any potential security concerns.
- Manage access control by verifying the identity of individuals entering the center and ensuring that only authorized guests and staff are admitted.
- **Conflict Resolution and De-escalation**:

- Intervene in situations involving disruptive behavior, using conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques to prevent escalation.
- Provide a calm and reassuring presence, working to resolve conflicts peacefully and with respect for all individuals involved.
- Assist in managing situations involving individuals under the influence of substances, using harm reduction approaches and seeking assistance from healthcare or outreach staff when necessary.
- **Emergency Response**:

- Respond promptly and effectively to any emergencies, including medical incidents, security threats, or facility issues.
- Document and report all incidents in accordance with organizational policies, maintaining detailed records of security-related events.
- **Supportive Engagement**:

- Build rapport and maintain positive relationships with guests, providing support and guidance in a respectful and compassionate manner.
- Assist staff with guest check-in and check-out processes, helping to maintain a welcoming atmosphere.
- Support staff in the implementation of Warming Center policies and procedures, ensuring that all guests understand and comply with the rules.
- **Facility Maintenance and Safety Checks**:

- Conduct routine safety checks to ensure that all areas of the facility are in good condition and free from hazards.
- Report any maintenance issues or safety concerns to the Warming Center Supervisor promptly.
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the facility as needed.
- **Collaboration and Communication**:

- Work closely with Warming Center staff, volunteers, and community partners to ensure coordinated and effective service delivery.
- Communicate regularly with the Warming Center Supervisor and other team members regarding any security or safety concerns.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions as required, contributing to the ongoing improvement of Warming Center operations**.**

**Qualifications**:

- Experience: Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field is preferred. Experience working in community services, homeless shelters, or with vulnerable populations is an asset.
- Skills: Strong conflict resolution, de-escalation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations with tact and professionalism.
- Training: Certification in First Aid, CPR, and Naloxone administration is preferred (training can be provided).
- Knowledge: Understanding of trauma-informed care and harm reduction principles is an asset.
- Attributes: Compassionate, patient, and respectful demeanor. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

**Physical Requirements**:

- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations, including navigating stairs and other potential barriers.

- The position requires flexibility, as duties and responsibilities may change based on the needs of the Warming Center.
- Security Personnel are expected to adhere to the highest standards of conduct and maintain the confidentiality of all guests.
