Aquatic Informatics is committed to flexibility; therefore, this position is open to flexible work arrangements (remote/hybrid). The role has been posted in multiple areas for marketing purposes, but there is only 1 position available.
About the Position
We are looking for a high-energy Accounting Manager experienced in developing an accounting team in a fast-paced, growth-oriented organization. Someone who exhibits the highest degree of integrity and ethics, and is willing to be hands-on, but able to delegate tasks appropriately.
The Accounting Manager will lead all aspects of accounting across multiple entities within three countries (Canada, United States, and Australia). Lead a team of 5 staff, work closely with corporate personnel across a variety of specialties (internal audit, tax, payroll, FP&A, etc.), and will be a key point of contact for the Controller.
This is a temporary, full time contract. The duration is for approximately 15-16 months and the successful incumbent will report to the Controller.
**Responsibilities**:
Lead the daily operations of the accounting department and meet financial reporting objectives. This includes running the monthly close process, completion of corporate reporting & analysis, handling AP/AR processes, review of biweekly payroll inputs, etc.
Responsible for talent management by recruiting, developing, and retaining associates.
This includes career pathing, providing regular feedback & hands-on training, and acting as a mentor for staff working to obtain their CPA designation.
Maintain standard work and controls of all accounting tasks as processes and procedures change.
Actively seek opportunities to improve systems and processes that support financial reporting.
Analyze the workflow of transactional accounting and drive processes towards lean methods and continuous improvement recommendations.
Drive process improvements to efficiency, cross training coverage, and level workload across the month.
Facilitate the integration of AQI policies and procedures with newly acquired entities.
Assist the Financial Planning and Analysis team in the preparation of reports, as required.
Perform other tasks as assigned, including new system implementations, researching potential software solutions, working with related entities & shared services, etc.
**Qualifications**:
**Education**:
A Bachelor’s degree plus a recognized accounting designation (CPA, CGA or CA).
**Experience**:
Experience in a large international accounting firm is preferred.
A solid understanding of US GAAP is expected.
Minimum of three years prior supervisory experience in the accounting/financial reporting areas.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel is expected. Proficiency with other software systems such as Oracle Financials, One Stream, SalesForce, Concur, and Avalara are considered an asset.
