Mott MacDonald Canada is currently involved in several major infrastructure projects in the rail and transit realms. We are currently seeking a CAD Technician to support our growing rail & transit team in Vancouver, to assist with infrastructure assignments for public and private-sector clients.
You will have the opportunity to work for local clients such as MetroVan, MOTi. The Vancouver office also supports capital projects in Canada and in other geographic locations including the United States, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. This position offers opportunities to work on projects from around the world with colleagues from various backgrounds, tapping into the expertise of our global practices.

**Responsibilities**:
- Preparing general arrangement and detailed drawings for roadways, railways, grading, drainage, site utilities, bridges, and civil structures
- Preparing and revising Civil 3D BIM models and extracting 2D drawings as required
- Basic design calculations
- Following checking and self-checking process, issuing drawings to internal and external clients, and managing electronic information.
- Responsible for good quality issue of IFC drawings and specifications
- Engage as part of large multidisciplinary teams and coordinate design documents for consistency
- Engage effectively and professionally in verbal and written communications
- Utilize collaboration techniques for information management and implement Building Information Modelling (BIM)
- Training team members in technical software and collaboration tools, design coordination workflows
- Graduate from an accredited college program in Civil Engineering Technology, CAD Technology, or from a career college in Engineering CAD / BIM Technology
- 3+ years progressive design experience as a modelling practitioner
- ASTTBC, ASET or OACETT registration as a Certified Engineering Technician or Technologist or the ability to obtain
- Excellent time management skills, setting priorities, to complete deliverables on time
- Proficiency in using AutoDesk (AutoCAD/Civil 3D/Revit) and/or Bentley (MicroStation and ProjectWise) Software Design Packages
- Asset to have working knowledge of one or any of the following software: Autodesk Infrawork, Inventor, Dynamo and Grasshopper with Rhino
- Working knowledge of BIM or able to build 3D design models
- Self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills to understand what tasks are required to deliver projects and assignments successfully, as well as solving technical challenges while developing new workflows.
- Prepare final drawings based on prior work examples and other input from designers or engineers
- Genuine interest to develop and progress digital delivery with a propensity for learning.
- Maintain and improve on knowledge of drafting techniques, standards, practices, and engineering procedures.
