The Faculty of Health Sciences is a large, diverse, and comprehensive unit, comprised of six Schools (Nursing, Kinesiology, Health Studies, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Communication Sciences and Disorders), a large Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and four Research Centre’s. The faculty has more than 3,200 undergraduate students and more than 800 graduate students (200 PhD students).

The Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing educates nurses who are reflective practitioners and provides recognized leadership in nursing research, theory, practice, and policy advancements. Our research programs seek to develop knowledge capable of enhancing health equity by transforming practice, services, education and policies that affect health and well-being across the lifespan in 5 overlapping areas of strength: Women’s Health; Violence, Gender and Health; Digital Health; Mental Health; and Global and Indigenous Health.

As the Women’s Health Research Chair in Rural Health, Dr. Marilyn Ford-Gilboe leads a large, externally funded research program focuses on violence against women, women’s health, inequity and rurality. This includes studies developing and testing the effectiveness of online and F2F interventions in improving the health, safety and well-being of women who have experienced intimate partner violence (IPV), and examining implementation, scale up and sustainability of effective interventions.

**Responsibilities**:
The Research Associate will support a national implementation study of iHEAL, a woman-led health promotion intervention for women with histories of intimate partner violence, currently underway in collaboration with academic and community-based health care partners in Ontario, BC and New Brunswick. With Western as the lead organization, the Research Associate plays a key role in team communication and coordination of activities across sites, while also supporting site-specific research activities in Ontario. Specific area of responsibility include:

- Monitors timelines and internal processes to ensure that study activities are completed on time and according to standards and protocols, in consultation with study PI
- Supports regular internal and external team communication using existing mechanisms
- Oversees data collection across sites, liaising with research staff to coordinate activities, identifying and addressing any issues in a timely way
- Maintains an online repository of documents and resources in MS Teams for team use
- Supports local data collection and analysis (qualitative interviews and online surveys)
- Assists in drafting manuscripts and coordinating submissions to peer-reviewed journals
- Assists in developing knowledge products (e.g. policy briefs, lay summaries, reports, videos) to communicate research academic and non-academic (e.g. policy, practice) audiences, and in enacting Knowledge Mobilization strategies
- Other activities that arise, as assigned by Dr. Ford-Gilboe

**Education**:
Master’s degree in a Health or Social Science discipline (PhD in a Health or Social Science discipline preferred)

**Experience**:
2 years' research experience in one or more of the following areas: violence against women/gender-based violence, women’s health, development/testing/implementation/scale up of health interventions, health services research, or closely related areas

Research project management experience, preferably in the context of community-based research conducted with academic and non-academic partners

Experience and/or training related to equity/social justice, working with diverse populations, and implementation science

Experience writing reports, academic papers and research communications for lay audiences

**Knowledge, Skills & Abilities**:
Demonstrated knowledge of violence against women and an appreciation of strengths and common challenges experienced by marginalized populations

A strong record of teamwork and demonstrated ability to develop effective, respectful, mutually beneficial relationships with varied stakeholders (e.g., academics, students, service providers, policy makers)

High degree of analytical accuracy and attention to detail, innovative thinking, sound judgement and ethical conduct, including ability to maintain confidentiality, tact and discretion

Exceptional oral and written communication

Knowledge of a range of research approaches; advanced skills in qualitative and/or quantitative methods and analysis

Knowledge of the publication process and expertise in developing peer-review publications

Expertise in basic website maintenance, social media engagement, and design/delivery of online education would be an asset
